There are few dinner table offenses as insidious as taking food off of someone else's plate. Sure, maybe you just wanted to "try a bite," but you know, deep down, that you had only cruel motives.

Okay, so maybe some of us struggle with being a little possessive of our food. If you're hangry and tired, sharing food simply isn't a possibility. As with all things, however, there is a line that even the hangriest individuals shouldn't cross.

One Maryland man took his food possessiveness way too far — all the way to an hours-long standoff with police.

The incident began on Sunday evening when the man in question was eating dinner with his wife and daughter. Allegedly, one of the women took a bite of his grilled cheese sandwich — and that's when all hell broke loose, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Rather than, you know, sharing the sandwich, this father-of-the-year fired a shot inside the house.

The wife and daughter fled the residence and a standoff began between the armed man and police, which lasted approximately three hours until he surrendered peacefully.

According to Baltimore County police spokesman Shawn Vinson, the man will be charged. Luckily, no one was injured by the gunfire.

This seems like the overreaction of the year – even over something as magical as grilled cheese.

Worst case scenario, you can order grilled cheese delivery — there are plenty of apps for that. (h/t baltimore sun)
