Everything about Michael Bay movies screams machismo in my opinion. When you think of Bay, you probably think of movies like Transformers and The Purge. Models, cars, explosions, and models working on cars before exploding. The man just loves over the top scenes and CGI. Can't say we blame him, it's worked for him and plenty of his movies gross big time. But now, Paramount has him working on a live action version of a popular Nickelodeon children’s series Any guesses? Well you'd be shocked to find out his upcoming project is he's producing the live-action Dora The Explorer movie. Yep. You're not reading this wrong. He's bringing the beloved children character to the big screen.
Not much is known about the project at this point but is is rumored to star a teenage Dora as she moves to the city with her cousin, Deigo. Nick Stoller, who has worked on films like The Muppets and Neighbors, is writing the script. Additionally, Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller have been brought on to direct.
Plans to bring Dora to the big screen were announced in 2015, with Tom Wheeler writing and Mary Parent producing. The new team signals an overhaul of the project, with details a tightly kept secret. All we know is that Dora will be a teenager who moves to the city to live with her cousin Diego.
The adaptation is scheduled to be released in 2019 but already the internet is wondering what this thing will look like.
It's fair to say that people are pretty confused by the choice of director...
While there are still a lot of unknowns about this project I think there is one thing we can safely count on.
What do you think of the choice in director?
