These Ageless Celebs Are Somehow the Same Age as These Classic, Older Characters

When it comes to celebrities, it seems like they never age, but when you compare them with past notable actors, the differences are shocking.

Although scientists still haven't figured out how to stay young forever, sometimes it feels like celebrities have discovered the secret and just don't want to share it. Many stars in their 40s and 50s don't look too differently from how they did 20 years ago, and it's getting a little freaky.
Although it seems like today's celebs are ageless, a quick way to better understand their true ages (and make yourself feel old AF in the process) is to compare them with past notable actors. Many of these stars seem much older by comparison, especially when flanked next to their ageless counterparts.
Here are some of our favorite examples:
Will Smith is now the same age as Uncle Phil in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
It's hard to believe, but Uncle Phil, played by James Avery, was only 45 during the first season of Fresh Prince. Today, Will still looks baby-faced at 49.
Karate Kid's Ralph Macchio is now the same age as Mr. Miyagi.
"How??" you're probably thinking, but it's true. Mr. Miyagi, played by Pat Morita, was 52 when the film was released in 1984. Today, Ralph is actually older at 56.
Stacey Dash is now older than Miss Geist in Clueless.
In the movie, Stacey and Alicia Silverstone's characters try to get their frumpy teacher, Miss Geist, to hook up with their equally frumpy debate teacher, Mr. Hall. The year 1995 might not seem like that long ago, but apparently it is because today, Stacey is 51 — three years older than actress Twink Caplan was in 1995.
Tom Cruise is now the same age Jack Nicholson was in A Few Good Men.
I don't know what sorcery is keeping Tom from aging, but now, at 56, he's one year older than Jack was in A Few Good Men. Tom, we want the truth, and don't tell us that we can't handle it!
Whoopi Goldberg is now the same age Maggie Smith was in Sister Act.
Whoopi is one of those actresses who's been around for so long you forget how old she is (she's 62). Maggie is the opposite. She's been playing "old" roles before she was even that old. For example, in 1992's Sister Act, Maggie was only 58.
Viggo Mortensen is now the same age as Lord of the Rings' Gandalf.
When the movie was filmed in 1999, actor Ian McKellen was 60. All the wizard hair and makeup made him look a little older, of course, but he still looks almost ancient next to Viggo, who's turning 60 later this year.
The Olsen Twins are now older than Full House's Rebecca.
It's hard to believe, but Lori Loughlin, who played Rebecca, was only 24 when she first appeared on the show in 1988. The Olsen Twins were just babies back then, but today they're both 32, eight years older than their TV aunt. Not to say the Olsens look "younger," but it's hard imagining them as 30-year-olds.
Sarah Jessica Parker is now older than Bette Midler's character in Hocus Pocus.
In the movie, Sarah played the young, "hot" witch, but today, at 53, she's now the same age Bette was when she played Winifred. In fact, she's actually five years older! Bette was only 48 in 1993. But of course, all that witchy makeup made her look a lot older.
Mark Hamill is now older than Star Wars' Obi Wan Kenobi.
When Luke Skywalker, played by Mark, made his appearance in last year's The Force Awakens, many fans noticed that he looked much younger than Alec Guinness, who played the original Obi Wan Kenobi in 1977. Back then, Alec was 63, and today, Mark is 66.
Winona Ryder is now older than the character who played her mom in Edward Scissorhands.
Dianne Wiest, who played Peg in the movie, was 42 back in 1990. Today, Winona is 46 — four years older.
Matilda's Mara Wilson is now the same age as Miss Honey.
It's hard picturing child actors as adults, but yep, Mara is 31 these days, the same age actress Embeth Davidtz was in 1996 when she played Miss Honey in Matilda.
Love, Actually's Thomas Brodie-Sangster is now older than Keira Knightley's character.
Shockingly, Keira was only 18 in 2003's Love, Actually, so the age gap between them is weirdly small. Today, Thomas is 28 (how??) and Keira is 33.
Johnny Depp is now the same age Geoffrey Rush was in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Although he's been looking kind of rough lately, Johnny still manages to look younger than his contemporaries. Today, he's 55, which is three years older than Geoffrey was when he played Barbossa in Pirates.
