Updated Feb. 12 2021, 11:43 a.m. ET
Let the games begin. MTV’s The Challenge: War of the Worlds is back for yet another explosive season, and this time our favorite Challenge veterans will be up against rookies from a few of the biggest reality shows, such as, Geordie Shore, The Bachelor, Ex on the Beach, and Big Brother.
The stage is set as fans will be see familiar faces return — including Challenge vets Cara Maria Sorbello, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio, CT Tamburello, and Wes Bergmann — as they fight it out with 30 other reality fan favorite contestants.
But where is The Challenge: War of the Worlds filmed in 2019?
The epic battles will wage on in Namibia, Africa as the challengers will face off in a multitude of extremely physical competitions.
Highlights from the Season 33 trailer appear to resemble the post-apocalyptic blockbuster franchise Mad Max, as these rookies and vets are facing off in Southern Africa for a chance to win big money. So, tough battles will be fought, but who will ultimately win the war?
The Challenge: War of the Worlds spoilers:
The trailer for War of the Worlds is packed with action, emotions, and drama. The clip shows then-couple Cara Maria and Paulie Calafiore having a heated discussion about Cara’s ex Kyle Christie, who is also living in the house.
"This is a game between me, you and Kyle. Do not get in between him and I because if he f--king steps to you, touches you, I ain’t stopping," Paulie says before the clip cuts to Kyle squaring up against the Big Brother star.
Another relationship that seemingly does not make it through filming is Zach Nichols and Jenna Compono. The highlight trailer shows Jenna crying telling Zach, "I don’t want to break up with you," to which Zach replies, "Jenna we’re done … after this behavior, we’re done."
Besides the relationship drama on the show, fans will feast their eyes on the numerous fights that are bound to happen. Clip after clip we see the drama unfold between players, such as Wes, when he’s yelling, "You’re playing my game."
At one point, we see CT state point blank: "I’m gonna f--king kill you." We wonder who will be on the receiving end of that threat? Though MTV doesn’t show this in the trailer, we would be shocked if Wes and Bananas didn’t get into a fight during the show. The two have had a well-known ongoing beef throughout the history of the The Challenge, dating back to 2009. Yes, this feud has spanned a decade.
The two guys are typically one another’s biggest competitors, but maybe in this war, other enemies will emerge.
Will TJ Lavin return to The Challenge as host?
Duh. Us Weekly recently sat down with the longtime host to discuss the new season, which he called, "Next level."
"I can’t believe that we did it. Like, I looked at the final challenge — the final challenge alone made me completely sick," TJ said. "There are no slouches, no layups."
With explosions both in the house and on the battlefield, we are sure this will be one of the best seasons yet.
Watch The Challenge: War of the Worlds Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
