The new Netflix docuseries Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez takes a closer look at how the former NFL star became a convicted killer. During the three-part series, audiences take an inside look at the former New England Patriots player's life, including interviews with teammates, friends, family, and experts.
In 2015, Hernandez was found guilty for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional linebacker for football team the Boston Bandits, who was shot and killed in an industrial park on June 17, 2013.
However, during the trial, the former tight end was also indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were gunned down in a drive-by shooting. Though he was later acquitted of those charges, the Netflix series explores his connection to the crime and the testimony given by his former friend Alexander Bradley.
So, where is Alexander Bradley now?
The true crime docuseries explores the different relationships that Hernandez had, and one was with a known drug lord, Bradley. The two met while the late football star was in college in Florida, as Bradley would reportedly supply Hernandez with marijuana. Though the two maintained a friendship, it soon spiraled downward.
In 2017, Bradley testified against his former friend for the 2012 double murder charge. The prosecution based their case around his testimony, which stated that Bradley was ordered by Hernandez to carry out the assault after de Abreu allegedly spilled a drink on Hernandez at a nightclub in Boston.
According to his testimony, Bradley pulled up alongside the victims and fired numerous shots into their car, instantly killing the two men.
Hernandez's defense team argued that it was Bradley who fired the gun and killed the men. Both men were not convicted of the double murder, but were charged with other crimes related to the case.
Hernandez was initially connected to the case after being spotted at a bar where the two victims were last seen. Additionally, the silver SUV seen at the crime scene was found in his cousin Tanya Singleton's garage.
Bradley claimed during his six-hour testimony that Hernandez shot him in the face in 2013 while the two were in Miami after the football player became enraged when he referenced the double murder. As a result, Bradley lost his right eye. Following the incident, Bradley and Hernandez engaged in a text feud, which consisted of numerous death threats.
During the trial, Hernandez's defense claimed Bradley was shot in a drug deal gone wrong. He was later acquitted of the charge. So, where is Bradley now?
Though he was not found guilty of the 2012 double murder, Bradley is currently serving a five-year prison sentence in Connecticut after firing a gun at a Hartford nightclub in 2014. He will also serve five years of parole.
After being charged with first-degree murder for the slaying of Lloyd, Hernandez committed suicide inside his prison cell on April 19, 2017.
