Who Is Caring for Anna Chickadee Cardwell's Kids After Her Death?

Fans were deeply sad to learn of Anna Chickadee Cardwell's death at the age of just 29.

Mama June's daughter passed away after a grueling adrenal cancer battle, leaving behind two young kids.

Indeed, Anna's daughters Kaitlyn and Kylee were just 11 and 8 when they tragically lost their mom. So who has been caring for the girls since December 2023? Read on to find out what we know and whether the girls see one another.

Anna did not disclose who Kaitlyn's father was.

And now, Mama June is reportedly caring for her granddaughter, although Anna did not make arrangements ahead of time for who should have custody of her girls, and signed no legal papers to that effect.

“I’ll say to my last breath: I should not be raising Kaitlyn, and Michael should not be raising Kylee, and [Anna] should be here raising her girls, period point blank,” June told Us Weekly about how unfair it is that Anna is not here any longer to be her kids' mom. “I’ll say it till the day I die. That life is not fair for the girls. Definitely not.”

Sadly, the sisters are not living together, as Kylee is living with her dad, who is Anna's ex husband, Michael Cardwell.

June has said that she filed to get emergency custody of Kaitlyn even before her daughter passed away. As for Kylee, June said she doesn't get to see her often, nor does Kaitlyn, although she has tried to facilitate meetings.

However, June, who lives with her husband Justin Stroud, also spoke to E! News about wanting to keep Kaitlyn's life as consistent as possible.

"We took on the responsibility of an 11-year-old—making sure that she gets to school and making sure that we make life as normal as we can for her," she said. "Also just getting into a routine ourselves and trying to keep the consistency with Kaitlyn because that's what she needs — structure and consistency."

Mama June opened up about Kaitlyn and Kylee not getting to see one another due to differing custody arrangements, telling Us Weekly, “I can do everything in the world, but if I try to text when I was texting them and they wouldn’t answer, I can’t make them answer me back. I can’t make them see me."

She continued, "And that’s what I try to explain to people. We get ridiculed and, unfortunately, they’ve only seen each other a total of three times since Anna’s passed away and I know that they miss each other. I know that they want to be in each other’s lives, but I mean, life looks a little bit different than it did.”

Not much else is known about how Kylee is doing, and it seems for the time being, she is being kept away from her reality TV family, which also includes Anna's sisters, Alana, (Honey Boo Boo), Jessica (Chubbs), and Lauryn (Pumpkin).
