Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason are spending some time apart, which has many fans questioning if the couple is still together. The Teen Mom 2 star and David married in September 2017, and have one child together, daughter Ensley, 2.
According to People magazine, a source close to the couple said that the two stopped speaking earlier this week after David allegedly shot and killed Jenelle’s beloved dog. “David shot the dog after it came after Ensley,” an insider told the outlet. “Jenelle has all the kids with her and is talking to David right now. She’s very upset and is taking time to figure out what she wants to do.”
It all started when Jenelle’s dog allegedly bit their daughter, Ensley.
In a video posted by David, he showed a clip of the bulldog, Nugget, acting aggressively towards the toddler after the little girl tried to hug him. “I dont give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face… whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont put up with that s— at all [sic],” he wrote alongside a photo of his daughter with a scratch on her face.
David reportedly took matters into his own hands and shot and killed the dog after he attacked his daughter and bit her in the face.
The reality star husband spoke out following the incident, saying, “I’m all about protecting my family, it is my life's mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge wether or not an animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME [sic].”
Jenelle confirmed the news of her beloved dog’s death on Instagram, posting a selfie with the pup.
"Nugget... I’m crying everyday. I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I’m speechless. You were my sidekick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me. You still had a lot to learn and a lot to grow from your lessons. Everyday I wake up you’re not here, when I come home you’re not here, when I go to bed... you’re not here.” She captioned the photo. "You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back. #Heartbroken #Distraught."
Are Jenelle and David still together... or is it over?
Following the incident, the 27-year-old reportedly left the house on April 27 and only returned to their shared home in North Carolina on April 30 to “pack a bag.” A source told Us Weekly that the Teen Mom star “doesn’t feel safe with David.” She also feels "scared and terrified" of her 30-year-old husband.
Jenelle recently released a statement to Us Weekly regarding the incident, saying, "At this time, we are dealing with this rough situation. I want to focus on what’s best for me and my kids."
She continued, "[Divorce is] in thoughts, but nothing is finalized."
Jenelle’s kids were reportedly in the home when Nugget was killed.
The shooting became public knowledge after Jenelle’s ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith called 911 for a welfare check on their son together, Kaiser.
"The male caller referenced making sure his son was safe because his ex-fiancée’s husband shot a dog in front of him,” the Columbus County Sheriff’s Department told People magazine. The 4-year-old was declared safe, and did not investigate further into the alleged shooting of the pooch. Jenelle’s oldest son, Jace, 9, was reportedly on vacation at the time of the incident.
RIP Nugget.
