From every kid's favorite book series to a movie hit, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies were a fun comedic coming-of-age story. The cast was full of some wonderful talent, especially young people at the beginning of their careers.
However, years have passed and fans have since grown up. They aren't the only ones. The cast has grown up too. So, it's time to take a look into what they're doing all these years later.
Zachary Gordon — Greg Heffley
After a variety of smaller roles, Zachary starred in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies as Greg Heffley. The major role gave him a recurring role and when it was time to depart from the franchise, he stayed in the world of entertainment. He had roles in Dead of Summer, Bubble Guppies, The Haunting Hour: The Series, Last Man Standing, The Good Doctor, and Good Trouble.
Rather than continue in television and movies, Zachary began doing voice acting for video games, including Skylanders and Genshin Impact. In May 2023, a tragedy for the actor struck: he tore muscles in his throat. While he needed to put acting on the back burner, he continued making appearances at public events.
Robert Capron — Rowley Jefferson
While working on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Robert Capron tackled roles in other projects, as well. For example, he can be seen in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, The Three Stooges, and The Middle. He kept busy after the movies wrapped too.
Immediately following the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days release, Robert did voice acting as Bob in Frankenweenie and as Derek in Tarzan. His acting career seems to have simmered out in recent years, but he is entering the world of writing.
"If you’d told me I’d be working as a writers’ assistant for the MUPPETS? I would’ve laughed in your face. Life is weird," he wrote on Instagram while promoting Disney's Muppet Mayhem.
Devon Bostick — Rodrick Heffley
Devon Bostick's career was fairly established before he took on the role of Greg Heffley's edgy older brother. He previously was in Degrassi: The Next Generation and Flashpoint. After the children's book-to-movie adaptation, he moved on to another comedy role.
The actor made some appearances in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. When Barbenheimer rolled around, Devon took the side of the scientists, playing Seth Neddermeyer in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
In December 2023, Devon shared some exciting news with the world. He wrote a script called Where the Rainbow Ends and it made it into the semifinals of the 2023 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition.
Chloë Grace Moretz — Angie Steadman
Chloë Grace Moretz's career only continued to snowball into success following her time on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid set. After playing Angie Steaman, she snagged some voice acting roles in children's movies, making it back on-screen for Hugo.
She also played Flynne Fisher in The Peripheral and Kayla in Tom & Jerry. Outside of acting, Chloë is becoming a social media success with nearly 25 million Instagram followers. Plus, she's dabbling with Twitch where she has nearly 30k followers. Her Twitch bio reads: "Just a girl who finds solace in gaming endlessly."
Karan Brar — Chirag Gupta
Playing Chirag Gupta in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid set Karan up to gain a major Disney role in Jessie. Thereafter, he continued to find success in the world of Disney. He had the chance to do some directing for the show Bunk'd.
After stepping away from entertainment a good bit, Karan came back into the limelight with a telling Teen Vogue article. In the personal essay, he came out as bisexual. He also said: "I decided to admit myself into an inpatient treatment center for my depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts."
Laine MacNeil — Patty Farrell
Laine MacNeil kept with acting after Dairy of a Wimpy Kid ended. She picked up a variety of smaller roles, including in The X-Files and The Edge of Seventeen.
