As dramatic as reality TV is, not everything makes it into each edited episode of any given show, and that includes Perfect Match. Following the release of the first batch of Season 2 episodes, cast member Dominique Defoe took to TikTok to clear some things up that weren't shown in regards to her storyline with another cast member who she doesn’t mention by name but who many believe is Bryton Constantin.
Although Dominique doesn't mention Bryton by name in her TikTok, she does refer to her "first match" and an argument viewers saw her have with him. Since Bryton is Dominique's first match and they did indeed have a heated argument about yoga and some other seemingly inconsequential things, it makes sense that Domonique's accusations about "hate speech" from her match are about Bryton. And she spills some serious tea.
Dominique accuses Bryton of un-aired "hate speech" on 'Perfect Match.'
In her TikTok, Dominique, a bisexual woman, explains that the argument viewers saw her have with her first match went deeper than a disagreement about yoga and a competition they competed in and lost together. Again, she doesn't mention Bryton by name, but the clues she uses to explain her side of things point to Bryton being the subject of her video.
Dominique says that they argued because her match was "continuously saying hateful rhetoric" while she stood up for people that he was allegedly speaking negatively about.
"My worst fear during filming and what I actually expected to see and was very anxious about was the fact that we had these extremely explosive and angry arguments over hate speech," Dominique explains in her TikTok.
She also says that, from her point of view, his actions and words went unnoticed by other cast members. And she didn't expect "airing homophobia and misogyny" to make it to the edited episodes either. But, she adds as a piece of advice to her followers, "Never be nice to a man out of fear."
Viewers accused Bryton of being transphobic.
Prior to Dominique's TikTok in which she all but mentioned Bryton by name amid her accusations of hate speech, he was accused by fans of transphobia. When he competed on Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge, some viewers took to Twitter to share accusations about alleged transphobia.
Another user shared a video from one of the other players from his season, who shared a video detailing Bryton's Twitter 'likes,' which at the time included lots of anti-LGBTQ content. Whether or not Bryton finds himself on another Netflix reality show, regardless of if it's about dating or not, remains to be seen.
