Worried Fans Demand to Know — Has Nathan Fillion Lost Weight?

The Rookie Season 2 premiere was jam-packed with unexpected twists.
The trio of newbies finally received their much-awaited field training exam scores. West (Titus Makin Jr.) moved in with Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) only to discover her expertly hidden messy side. Officer Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Sergeant Wade (Richard T. Jones) tackled a crime involving fake cops.
However, it was something else that left fans in a state of unmediated shock. We demand to know: Has Nathan Fillion lost weight?
Loosely based on a true story, The Rookie chronicles the adventures of John Nolan. Consumed by his divorce and the first signs of his onsetting middle-age crisis, the owner of a construction company sets out in search of his true calling only to end up at the Los Angeles Police Department.
The oldest to join the police force, John becomes the odd-one-out in a team full of seasoned professionals. With eyes full of wonder, John sets out to learn the complex secrets of his trade.
Being a cop – however much of a rookie – is physically demanding. This posed challenges for Nathan, who has a weak knee. In previous interviews, Nathan spoke at length about his lack of enthusiasm for sports and fitness-related activities. He prefers to have a stuntman for running scenes, and he regards kneeling as a stunt in its own right.
This leads us to ask: Could someone so openly against exercise lose weight at all? Could he have lost weight during the shooting by accident?
So has Nathan Fillion lost weight?
Nathan has made no comments on the supposed weight loss so far, which had led worried fans to enquire all the more about the issue. While some interpreted the sudden changes in his physique as a positive sign, others weren't quite so cheerily optimistic.
A Twitter user commented "Looking very healthy and svelte. Congratulations!" Another one chimed in, writing, "Nathan you've been working out! You look great! Congratulations on an awesome S2-E1!"
Other fans suspected that there might be a more deep-seated issue at stake, and that perhaps Nathan lost the weight due to sudden changes taking place in his personal life. Some hypothesized that his lankiness might be the outcome of too much stress. As a Twitter user wondered, "Just watched last night...loved the show, but I'm worried about your weight loss. Are you ok?" And, as another, worried fan put it, "Dang buddy, looking pretty trim."
What else can we expect from The Rookie Season 2?
Officer Nolan is expected to progress further in the police forces. No longer a rookie per se — he has been serving as an officer for six entire months now, after all — he becomes an integral part of the team, while also maintaining the quirky, eccentric attitude fans love him for.
As for the work part? Unfortunately, there will be no shortage of crimes for this fictive branch of the LAPD to tackle. Plus: Nolan is also expected to end up in a love triangle involving Isabel Bradley (Mircea Monroe), no less.
