White Chicks actor Marlon Wayans is currently mourning the death of his beloved mother, Elvira Wayans, who passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, July 23, according to USA Today. And although experiencing the death of a close family member is incredibly difficult, it's much easier to cope and heal when you're surrounded by people that love you, and luckily, Marlon's support system is truly enormous.
How many siblings does Marlon Wayans have? It turns out the 48-year-old actor is one of many children in his family, so needless to say, he has a huge support system at his fingertips.
Marlon Wayans is the baby of his gigantic family — meet his nine siblings.
When Marlon was born in New York City on July 23, 1972, he made his way into the world with nine built-in friends. That's right — according to FamilyTron, Marlon is the youngest of 10 siblings. His brothers' names are: Dwayne Howell Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Kyle Wayans Sr., Devonne Chaunté Wayans, and Shawn Wayans, and his sisters' names are: Kim Natalia Wayans, Elvira Alethia Wayans, Nadia Yvette Wayans, and Deidra Lenora Wayans.
The Wayans family experienced financial struggles when the kids were young, according to Biography. The 12 of them were living in a small housing project on the West side of Manhattan. But despite having very little, they were incredibly hard-working positive people, and these days, all of the Wayans siblings are working in the entertainment industry.
Many of the Wayans siblings have made big names for themselves in the vast world of Hollywood. You may recognize Keenen, who acts, directs, and writes; Damon, who acts and produces; Kim, who acts; and Shawn, who acts and writes. Each of them is incredibly talented and hard-working, which was a trait instilled by their father, Howell Wayans, who managed a supermarket.
Marlon Wayans is absolutely heartbroken over losing his mom, which he detailed on Instagram.
Elvira's death happened to coincide with her 82nd birthday, as well as Marlon's 48th birthday. So, needless to say, it was a much more somber day than the Scary Movie icon had anticipated. The actor took to Instagram with a photo of them smiling together and a tear-jerking caption which opened up about how this loss "shattered him into 1000 pieces."
"Losing you shattered me into 1000 pieces. I’m putting myself back together piece by piece. You will always be my glue. Miss you. Today i celebrate for the both of. In the midst of this hurt... i just love you ma. #missyou i accomplished so much, made you so proud... but now i got angel to lift me. #loveofmylife #bdaygotl s--t ma, i gave you all my bdays... wth do i do now 😂 millions of weetahs sugtas and homies #myfirstmylastmyeverything rest well," the post reads.
While we're thrilled to hear the Wayans are most likely reconvening and supporting each other during this devastating time, we're wishing them the best nonetheless. Rest in peace, Elvira Wayans.
