The iOS 14 update is probably the most creative and customizable update iPhone users have seen... maybe ever.

iOS 14 has all kinds of new features, from improved security and widget customization, to a natural eye contact feature on FaceTime. And remember the Memojis that Apple introduced back in 2018? Those have gotten an upgrade too.

Thanks to the latest software update, users can make their memojis wear fun hats, head coverings, have purple or blue skin, or even wear a mask! Want to join the club? Here's how.

Here's how to put a mask on your Memoji.

First, you'll want to create your Memoji. Open messages, and start a new conversation or tap into an existing one. Now, select the Memoji button, which is a yellowish person wearing purple aviator sunglasses, surrounded by hearts.

By the way, the icon to the right of that one, which has a yellow frame around the face, is the animated Memoji, which you can use to record messages. But for now, back to the original Memoji.

Press the three blue dots when you get to the Memoji screen and select the option to create a "New Memoji." You'll be taken to a screen where you'll see a bald yellow face, which will soon become a cartoon version of yourself, once you start customizing!

Thanks to the iOS 14 update, you'll be able to make your skin all kinds of colors, including green, pink, and blue, and give yourself beauty marks, freckles, or a touch of blush. Keep swiping right and you'll arrive to different screens like Hairstyle, Brows, Eyes, and Nose, where you'll be able to customize shapes, colors, and accessories, like jewelry or an eyepatch, to your liking.

Our personal tip for Memojis is this: Find a friend or loved one and ask them to make your Memoji for you. Oftentimes, people who can see us more objectively will be able to make Memojis for us that are truer to life, and thus look like more convincing cartoonified versions of ourselves.

When you arrive to the last few panels on the right, namely Ears, Eyewear and Headwear, you'll be able to move on from your features and customize your Memoji to fit your fashion. Here, you'll be able to select earrings (the update allows you to mix and match styles), glasses from a wide array, and even be able to pick from your favorite cap, hat, sombrero, or crown.

It's in the Headwear section that you should be able to scroll down and see a category called Face Coverings, where you'll be able to select from two different mask styles, then make it any color you please.

If you're satisfied with your Memoji, you might also want to press Duplicate so that you can customize it in more detail to fit your different moods.

For example, we have a plain one, one that's more dressed up with accessories and sunglasses, and a third one with a mask!

Enjoy playing around with your improved virtual avatar!
