Fans of the Netflix teen comedy The Kissing Booth had to wait two years, but they’re being gifted a sequel and couldn’t be more excited about it.
The first movie took us on Elle’s journey as a quirky high schooler who finds romance with high school senior and resident bad boy, Noah. Elle is played by Joey King, and Noah is played by Jacob Elordi.
The plot twist is the fact that Elle happens to be BFFs with Noah’s younger brother, Lee — played by Joel Courtney.
The Kissing Booth 2 begins streaming on July 24, and will pick up after Noah’s graduation, after he’s gone on to college at Harvard and is pursuing a long-distance relationship with Elle.
But fans have taken a real interest in Lee. Or Joel, really. Here’s the dish on his personal life.
Joel Courtney has a fiancé.
It’s true! The 24-year-old who hails from Idaho recently confirmed this exciting news in a Wired Autocomplete Interview, where the question of whether he was married came up.
“Almost,” he says. “I’m so excited to get married. I love my fiancé — Mia, shout out to you if you’re watching this! Almost. So close. Right around the corner.”
At this point in the dual interview, his real-life buddy Joey chimes in and says, “Mia, shout out to you if you’re watching this, I love you, too!”
Here’s what we know about his future wife.
The Mia that Joel and Joey are mentioning is his girlfriend-turned-fiancé Mia Scholink, whom he proposed to on Valentine’s Day of this year.
The two have known each other since they were kids, reports say. Mia's from Arizona, and has a significant social following of nearly 70,000 fans for her lifestyle account which features her future husband often.
Actually, she even links to his Insta in her bio, which also says, “let all that you do be done in love.† » arizona state | travel enthusiast.”
In the inevitable engagement announcement post on Instagram, Joel says, “This woman right here, lemme tell you a lil bit about her. She is kind, patient, hysterical, forgiving, so beautiful she makes my heart stop, honest, and joyful. I love you @mia_scholink and I am so blessed to have you as my fiancé."
About two months later, he shared a series of show-stopping engagement photos to his social, which — of course — fans are loving.
While Joel and Mia haven't released details about the wedding, they're making it no secret that they're excited and ready, and it’s coming soon.
Joel may be young, but he has big goals.
Aside from becoming a husband and family man, Joel has found success as Lee on The Kissing Booth.
It’s definitely the role he’s best known for, but he’s actually been acting for a decade, since he was just 14 years old.
Aside from Lee, the character he’s best known for is Peter Moore from The CW series The Messengers in 2015.
Best of luck to Joel and Mia — we can’t wait to see wedding photos!
