Johnathan Shillingford Is the Mustique's New Chef on 'Below Deck Mediterranean'

The Below Deck cast members are constantly rotating as new drama gets dished and job performance slips. In Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean, the crew will be getting a shakeup, but it isn't on the rig.

The kitchen will be led by a new figure, Johnathan Shillingford as the head chef. Under his direction, the boat might be seeing some amazing cuisine or he could totally flop. There's only one way to find out.

As the new chef of the Mustique, Johnathan comes with some serious experience. Not only is he a well-decorated chef, but this isn't his first time taking his talent onto the seas.

He has spent seven years in the industry, meaning fans should expect to see an expert behind the stove. Johnathan is from Roseau, Dominica and traveled the waters far and wide. His Instagram is flooded with photos of his travels.

While Johnathan traveled to plenty of places, according to Bravo, he said his favorite places are "French Polynesia and the Tuamotu islands. Both are, literally, heaven on earth."

When it comes to Mustique, the Below Deck Mediterranean boat, he is coming in with a pretty open mind, but he does have a bit of a critique. "She’s a cute, big, old girl who maybe needs a facelift," he explained.

As for what Johnathan will be bringing to the crew in a personality sense, the jury is still out. He listed a few special skills, though: "Twerking, singing, cooking all the food, and design. I’m also great at accents." This was only proven in an Instagram video where he was dancing around the kitchen.

"If you’re waiting ages for your food to come out, don’t tell me nothing!! Just know that I was doing things that needed to be done!!!" he wrote in the caption.

Plus, Johnathan's work ethic might fall into question this season. After all, he made a post on Instagram implying he was going against the captain's orders. In a video, he showed himself dipping from the yacht, but maybe not in an authorized way.

In the post, Johnathan explained, likely as a joke, that his time off wasn't approved. However, he wrote, "Me on my way off the yacht." He captioned the post: "I gotta go!! Hope my captain doesn’t see this."

While he's out in his travels, Johnathan does have a soft spot. When asked who he misses most out on the sea, he said: "My mom. Gilly is my rock and the best cheerleader anyone could ask for."

It doesn't seem so. While Johnathan doesn't appear to be one to post too much about his romantic life, he did post with David Sargysan who appears to be his partner.

On David's page, he has included the chef in posts plenty of times, including a compilation video of Johnathan with the caption, "Happy Birthday Baby." Their exact status is somewhat unclear, but it does seem that they are an item.
