According to a statement from his lawyer, rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed during his birthday celebration in Tampa, Fla. Julio, whose legal name was Charles Jones, was killed as part of a shooting in which four people were hit in a hotel parking lot early on Sunday morning.
Julio was apparently the only person killed, and he was "reportedly ambushed" in the parking lot, according to his lawyer. Following the reports of his death, many want to learn more about who Julio's girlfriend was and about the circumstances around his death.
Who is Julio Foolio's girlfriend?
Julio's girlfriend is Bianco Mani, and while not much is known about her, we do know that she posted about Julio's death on Instagram. Her account is now private, but the post apparently stated that Julio had died after celebrating his birthday in Tampa, which obviously lines up with other accounts of what happened. She also posted a picture of him alongside the news.
Julio was initially celebrating at an Airbnb, but he was forced to leave after police arrived and escorted him off the premises for exceeding the occupancy limit. He and those celebrating with him then apparently went to a Holiday Inn, and it is believed they were trying to book rooms when they were shot at.
“What we have learned, and this is early in the investigation, two cars were shot at,” said Joneé Lewis the public information officer for the Tampa Police Department.
Julio is believed to be the only victim of the shooting to die, but his death has yet to be confirmed by a medical examiner. Officers are planning to look at surveillance video from the hotel in order to learn more about the incident. No arrests have yet been made in the case, and it's unclear what the motive behind the shooting might have been.
Julio had previously been injured in shootings twice before.
In 2023, Julio was shot at while in Jacksonville, Fla. under similar circumstances when someone drove by his car and riddled it with bullet holes. Julio had also been shot at in November of 2021, and on that occasion, he fired back even though all of the shots that were fired at him had missed.
"I shot back in self-defense," he said. "My gun is registered. If I did something illegal, the police would put me in jail. A [n-word] did miss 100 shoots, though. They must have thought I was lackin’ for sure. [sic]"
Julio was also shot at in Houston, Tex. in 2020, saying again on Instagram that he had been shot at but hadn't been killed.
The legacy of gun violence reportedly extends to several other members of Julio's family, and it's clear that the rapper also had a personal history with it. While many were hoping the rumors of his death weren't true, it seems that Julio's luck at avoiding critical injuries has finally run out, even though we don't exactly who shot at him this time.
