In the years surrounding her appearance on Season 3 of the show 16 and Pregnant in 2011, Kianna Randall faced some serious issues that extended well beyond teen parenthood.
The show was centered around the birth of her son, Kay'den Elijah Hegab, with then-boyfriend Zak Hegab. Kianna Randall was 17 and Zak Hegab was 15 years old at the time of Kay’den’s arrival.
The two discussed giving their son up for adoption, but ultimately decided to keep him with his birth parents. But a lot has happened since then, and we’re here to catch you up.
Kianna Randall faced major legal issues after ‘16 and Pregnant.’
Shortly after Kay’den was born — Oct. 17, 2010 — Randall became pregnant with a second child together.
While pregnant in 2011, she and Hegab reportedly ran into trouble with the law and were arrested for armed robbery. Randall found herself facing four major criminal charges in a Tarrant County, Tex. court, including two counts of burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery.
As a result, Randall was sentenced to 10 years of probation, while Hegab was sent to juvenile detention. They sadly lost their second baby to miscarriage.
Her felonies happened over a two-day period.
On Aug. 20, 2011, Randall first attempted to commit theft before becoming involved in two armed robberies later that day. She was said to have “used a gun to intimidate two of the people she was robbing,” as Hollywood Life shares.
The following day, she was involved in another attempted burglary that ended up failing before the law got involved.
And her baby daddy ended up in jail for sexual assault.
Things seemed to settle down for Randall and Hegab, who parted ways sometime after the legal drama.
But the legal issues weren’t over for Hegab, who wound up in jail in 2014 after being charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The details of the allegations aren’t clear.
But Texas Penal Code labels “sexual assault on a child is labeled as ‘aggravated’ if one or more of the following things took place: the child was under 14 years old at the time of the incident, a deadly weapon was used, a ‘date rape’ drug was used, or serious bodily harm was threatened or carried out.”
“According to Tarrant County court reporter Debbie Edwards, Zak has been incarcerated since August 2014 on that charge, as well as violation of his parole stemming from a previous conviction,” reports say.
Kianna Randall has since moved on.
In 2013, she reportedly married Eric Lee Harrington, who’s “serving a 25-year prison sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”
Harrington was charged with firing a weapon at bystanders during an armed robbery, and striking one of them three times, as well as brandishing a weapon he didn’t fire in other instances.
Randall’s husband Harrington has since appealed his sentence, with official court documents saying he “challenges the propriety and severity of his sentence, asserting it is unjust and grossly disproportionate to his crime.”
It’s unclear whether the couple is still married, but thanks to some super-sleuthing by 16 and Pregnant fans, it appears that Harrington is set to be released from prison in 2037.
We hope there’s a bright future ahead for the whole family.
