Lauren Sánchez has expensive taste in men.
The former news anchor is engaged to Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos. But before their relationship, she was involved in several other high-profile relationships with affluent and influential men. Some of the men she has been with range from athletes to mogul businessmen to sports anchors.
What was Lauren's relationship history like before she found lasting love with Jeff Bezos? Here’s a look at her (not so little) black book.
Rory Markas
Lauren met her first high-profile relationship during her first job in the television industry. She worked as an intern at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles when she started dating sports journalist, Rory Markas. He’s most known for later becoming the play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Angels.
They were engaged for a period of time but never married. Page Six said they broke up when she landed her first job at Phoenix KTVK. Sadly, Rory passed away from a heart attack at 54 in 2010.
Anthony Miller
Lauren had her first foray with professional athletes when she partnered with the retired NFL star. They reportedly met in 1996 at the Super Bowl. They dated for four years and were engaged for almost two of them. When they split in 2000, it was clear that their breakup was not amicable. Both parties went on to accuse the other of cheating.
The former Denver Broncos player told The Sun UK that Lauren essentially pushed him into proposing.
"I kind of gave her [an engagement ring] because she bugged me about getting married,” he said, adding that he never got the ring back.
Lauren moved on from that relationship with Los Angeles Lakers player, Derek Fisher.
Tony Gonzalez
The TV reporter traded up NFL players when she began dating Tony Gonzalez. They welcomed their son, Nikko, together in 2000. Although the pair eventually called it quits, they have become wonderful co-parents together.
She and Jeff Bezos grabbed lunch with Tony and his wife in October 2021. Then, Lauren called Tony her “best friend” in an interview with WSJ magazine. The two families also recently got together to celebrate Nikko’s college graduation.
Henry Simmons
After dating athletes didn’t pan out, Lauren gave actors a try. She was engaged to NYPD star, Henry Simmons. The pair lived together for a while but the relationship came to a rocky end when it was reported that Lauren left Henry for Patrick Whitesell, the executive chairman of the Endeavor Talent Agency, who has a reported net worth of $450 million.
Patrick Whitesell
So far, Patrick has been Lauren’s longest relationship. They were together for 13 years, starting in 2005 with their star-studded wedding. During the course of their marriage, they welcomed a son and a daughter: Evan and Eleanor.
Lauren was reportedly introduced to Jeff for the first time at a party hosted by Patrick. The couple are said to have fallen in love after Jeff hired Lauren, a helicopter pilot, to shoot aerial shots for his space-launch company, “Blue Origin.”
