Well, this is a first. The second episode of Married at First Sight's new season ended on a major cliffhanger when bride and groom Amelia and Bennett realized that they’d met before — which kind of messes up the whole premise of the show.
Fans were left to wonder how the duo knows each other, with many viewers speculating that the soon-to-be newlyweds had previously hooked up. So, are Amelia and Bennett still together after that shocking revelation? Scroll down for Season 11 spoilers!
'Married at First Sight' spoilers: Amelia and Bennett
Given that Amelia has set her Instagram account to private, and the fact that we can’t even find Bennett on social media, it’s hard to know whether or not these two made it through decision day. Luckily, we have reliable spoiler, @mafsfan, to clue us in.
According to intel from @mafsfan, only three out of the five couples this season choose to stay together, and we already know two of them: 1. Miles and Karen 2. Woody and Amani.
Based on spoilers from @mafsfan, Brett and Olivia call it quits, meaning that only one of the remaining pairs — Amelia and Bennett or Henry and Christina — proves to be successful.
In a recent interview, both Amelia and Bennett had nice things to say about each other, giving us hope that the two creatives found their happily ever after. "I said I would like a partner who is fun and excited about life. Bennett is definitely that," Amelia explained to In Touch.
"I never questioned what [the experts] were thinking when they met the two of us and thought we should be matched," the 27-year-old added.
When asked about his chemistry with the medical resident, Bennett, 28, revealed, "She’s a hoot. I wanted to be with someone who could make me laugh but also listen and share space with others… I absolutely recognized these traits in my new partner."
How do Amelia and Bennett on 'Married at First Sight' know each other?
It didn’t take long for the couple to realize that they’d met before. "They have a mutual friend," @mafsfan stated as the reason for their stunned reactions. When Amelia got up to the altar, she told Bennett, "It's good to see you."
Despite a little bit of awkwardness, their history didn’t dissuade them from tying the knot. "I'm very attracted to her," Bennett told the camera following the ceremony. "There's like a definite chemistry there, seems like it's going to be a pretty natural fit."
Amelia viewed their unique situation as serendipitous. "I feel this, like, sense of assurance that our paths have kinda crossed once or twice," she noted, "and of course there's like magical chemistry that can't be explained by science."
Still, both Bennett and Amelia admitted that getting to know each other amid a global pandemic had its rough patches. "Being quarantined together without any of our friends, routines, and outside hobbies so soon after our union was pretty intense," Amelia confessed, "but in a very fun way!"
New episodes of Married at First Sight air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
