Camila Alves Says Matthew McConaughey Is a "Softie" When It Comes to Parenting

Based on his roles in True Detective and Dazed and Confused, one might think of 50-year-old actor Matthew McConaughey as an eternal bachelor. However, it turns out he's been a family man for quite some time. After marrying model and designer Camila Alves in 2012, Matthew became a proud parent of not one — but three — adorable children.
Despite his Hollywood status, Matthew McConaughey tries to keep his kids' lives as "normal" as possible. Needless to say, in addition to being an award-winning actor, producer, and now, a (future) author, it seems as though he's truly a one-of-a-kind dad.
Matthew McConaughey and Camila have chosen to give their kids a "normal" childhood.
Camila and Matthew try to keep their three kids, 11-year-old Levi, 10-year-old Vida, and 7-year-old Livingston out of the spotlight as much as possible, according to E Online. And although their combined net worth is obviously quite impressive, Camila and Matthew try not to spoil their kids, enforce household rules, and say "no" from time to time.
"Sometimes loving your kids means giving them just what they want... Other times it means tough love. Affluent people can give their kids everything they want, but they're not usually going to get what they need. Loving a child is a lot harder if you really give a damn. ‘No' takes a lot more energy. It's a lot easier to say ‘yes,'" he told E Online.
Camila, however, revealed that between the two of them, Matthew is the "softie." He is often the one to give in, and tell his kids "yes" when they want something. According to TODAY, he also said that he'd like to have eight more kids if Camila would let him. Needless to say, it seems as though he seriously loves parenthood.
Outside of being parents, Matthew and Camila are totally relationship goals.
The first time Matthew saw Camila in 2006, according to Good Housekeeping, he was out with Lance Armstrong. He spotted Camila from across the room, and apparently, it was "love at first sight." He invited Camila over to their table and they conversed in Portuguese. They ended up going on a date three days later, and the chemistry was unreal.
“We went out on our first date three nights later and I knew then that the next night I wanted to go on another date … And I've been wanting to go on a date with her for the last nine years. And not with anybody else," the actor said at one point.
Five years later, Matthew proposed to Camila on Christmas eve and they wed the following summer on June 9, 2012 at their home in Austin, Tex. They already had Levi and Vida in their lives at that point so they had their children participate in the ceremony with Levi as the ring bearer and Vida as the flower girl.
Matthew may not strike you as a family man, but his family is definitely #goals. Really, could we be more in love?
