When Friends star Matthew Perry passed away Oct. 28, 2023, condolences rolled in from strangers and loved ones alike. He was respected and adored in an industry that often leaves people bitter and angry. His many public struggles with addiction led him to a life of service to others who were in similar pain. Despite his own issues, many said that Matthew was always available to help pull another addict out of the darkness.
According to the actor's autopsy, he had high levels of ketamine in his blood and likely lapsed into unconsciousness and then went underwater. Distractify previously reported that because of the amount of ketamine in Perry's system, his death was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency. One person they spoke with was Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller. Let's take a look at her relationship with Perry.
The Matthew Perry and Brooke Mueller relationship timeline began at rehab.
InTouch Weekly reported that the LAPD spoke with Mueller on numerous occasions, and that she had her attorneys present. A source told the outlet that law enforcement showed up at her sober living facility with a search warrant but could get very little out of the media personality. She was not taken into custody but police did leave with her cell phone and laptop.
The source also said, "It's tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew’s death], but she’s adamant she had nothing to do with that." The two previously met while in treatment at the same time and bonded over the mutual friends they had in the entertainment industry. This same source claimed the two leaned on each other heavily and formed an "unexpected friendship." Both had been in and out of rehab multiple times.
Brooke Mueller has been arrested on several different occasions.
Mueller is no stranger to conversations with law enforcement as she's been arrested numerous times, going as far back as 2011 for a drug possession, per Reuters. The then-34-year-old assaulted a woman at the Belly Up bar and was arrested later that night at a nightclub in Aspen, Colo. aptly named Escobar. She was charged with third-degree misdemeanor assault and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Ten years later, Mueller was arrested in March 2021 while on a trip to Dallas, Texas to visit a friend, said Radar Online. After the two argued, she checked into the Omni Dallas Hotel and phoned a friend in Los Angeles who flew to Texas in order to hang out and party for a few days. Said friend reached out to a local drug dealer but later got in touch with a homeless man who reportedly had "better s--t," per a police report obtained by the outlet.
The party later moved to the Grand Hyatt Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport where Mueller told police she could not recall what she did for several days. What law enforcement did know was her male friend and the drug dealer stole $42,000 from her bank account using Zelle, though the drug dealer was arrested while leaving. Mueller was placed on two years probation and was required to complete 160 hours of community service. As of the time of this writing, Mueller says she is sober.
