Soda drinkers and Mountain Dew fanatics alike are still recovering from the excitement surrounding Mountain Dew's latest limited-edition flavor called Maui Burst — the rare sip is only available for purchase at Dollar General stores for a limited time, and apparently, it tastes just like a tropical dream.

But it seems as though the Pepsi subsidiary already has its sights set on releasing yet another new flavor.

Die-hard fans are totally convinced the brand is going to unleash a New Year's-themed sip, and who knows? They might be right.

So if you, too, are dying to find out more about Mountain Dew's new flavor, this is what we know so far. However, take note: Distractify reached out to Pepsi regarding the new drink, but did not hear back in time for publication, so everything is mere speculation at this moment in time.

What is the new Mountain Dew flavor going to be called?

Rumors regarding the new drink first spread on Mountain Dew's Reddit page, r/MountainDew, and oftentimes, according to Comicbook.com, the page is visited by Pepsi and Mountain Dew employees.

Reports say Mountain Dew is going to release a new flavor for New Year's called Happy Dew Year.

This will officially make it the brand's third-ever holiday-dedicated drink, following the release of its Halloween-themed sip, VooDew, as well as last year's Christmas drink, Dew Merry Mash-Up.

Reports from the online soda drinking community predict that Happy Dew Year will taste like peach, somewhat resembling the sweet and bubbly taste of champagne. Cute.

Obviously, like the rest of Mountain Dew's offerings, the new sip will be free of alcohol.

But whether you're DD-ing your friends to a New Year's party, you're feeling festive during work, or if you're simply seeking out alcohol-free options for NYE, a champagne-esque flavor could seriously come in clutch for the holidays.

If Happy Dew Year is — in fact — peach-flavored, it won't be the first of its kind. Earlier this year, KFC and Mountain Dew collaborated to create a brand new sip to wash down the chain's fried chicken, which they called Sweet Lightning.

Only sold at participating KFC locations, Sweet Lighting evoked the sweet taste of sweet peach-honey tea, according to Fandom. Happy Dew Year, however, will simply taste like peach soda... which honestly sounds like the drink of my dreams.

Reddit's Mountain Dew-drinking community is buzzing over the prospect of the new flavor as well. Reddit user rohlinxeg wrote: "If this is real, I'm gonna have a new favorite dew," while Reddit user carlsmustang97 said: "Yep Happy Dew Year that one is going to be Good when it comes out🙂."

So bottom line: if this doesn't ultimately come out, fans are going to be incredibly upset.

Is Mountain Dew's new flavor, Happy Dew Year, ultimately going to come out this year? Will it taste peachy? Like I said, nothing is confirmed at the moment, but I'll keep my eyes and ears wide open.
