As of the time of this writing, three women have accused former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter of sexual assault. The incidents allegedly occurred in the early 2000s though the first woman, Melissa Schuman, didn't share her story until October 2017. Since then, three of the four women have filed lawsuits against Nick, per the BBC. He in turn is countersuing all of them for defamation of character. The singer's legal team said in a statement that they believe the truth will prevail.
Obviously being on the receiving end of three lawsuits while responding with three of your own is an expensive endeavor. Part of Nick's complaints in his lawsuits center around a loss of earnings due to the accusations. Though he's been performing since he was a child, it stands to reason this could take a chunk out of Nick's net worth. Let's see what he's working with.
What is Nick Carter's net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Nick's net worth is roughly $35 million. This makes sense as Nick has been in the entertainment industry since he was a wee lad. According to The Backstreet Boys: Official Biography, Nick's mom spotted his singing abilities when he was just a kid and immediately signed him up with a vocal coach. From there he took a Fame-esque route at the DiMarco's School of Theatre and Dance where hip-hop lessons were taught alongside ballet and tap. He started off in a few commercials until his big break.

Things really took off for Nick when in 1993, he became part of the Backstreet Boys at age 13. The popular boy band was assembled by talent manager Lou Pearlman who would go on to steal from them as well as N'Sync, per ABC News. Lou was eventually convicted of "conspiracy to commit bank fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy, and fraud in 2008," then passed away in 2016 while incarcerated. Thankfully the boy band, and Nick himself, were able to bounce back from this devastating experience.
Nick pushed himself out of the Backstreet Boys nest and decided to go solo. He recorded three albums on his own before returning to the group. While performing with the fellas, Nick never gave up on his other passion of acting. As early as 1998 he had a walk-on role as himself on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. From there he popped in and out of television shows and even had two reality shows of his own: House of Carters and I (Heart) Nick Carter.
In August 2013, Nick chatted with Vulture about his love of horror movies and alluded to writing and directing one of his own. "I had all these ideas in my head and I needed to put them down on paper," he told the outlet. There was one he just couldn't shake: "Basically, it’s a story of young college kids who go on a hunting trip into the woods and they stumble upon a cursed family from the 1800s." While that didn't pan out, a version of it made its way to Syfy in April 2016.
His movie Dead 7 centers around a post-apocalyptic future where the world has returned to an old west style of living. Zombies have taken over and one villainous woman has chosen to train them in order to create an army that will do her bidding. Who can stop them? Obviously the only people up for the job are a ragtag group of former boy band members. Joey Fatone is really putting in the work on this one.
In April 2024 Nick announced he was embarking on a solo world tour that started in Paris on June 24 and ended in Alicante, Spain, on August 13. If you missed him, feel free to head over to his merch store where various sweatshirts, T-shirts, and patches are available. What way would you like your Nick Carter merchandise? Probably that way.
