Olivia Munn has faced numerous health challenges.

In an interview with Vogue, Olivia revealed that she had a hysterectomy as part of her ongoing battle with breast cancer. "I have now had an oophorectomy and hysterectomy," she explained. "I took out my uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries."

Olivia also said that she was provided Lupron as part of her breast cancer treatment, which suppresses estrogen, but she suffered from severe side effects.

Olivia said that the main side effect was exhaustion. "I would wake up in the morning and almost immediately need to get back into bed," she explained, which led her to look for an alternative to Lupron, which turned out to be the hysterectomy.

"It was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family," she explained, adding that she didn't want to miss her son Malcolm's childhood.

Olivia also said that she froze her eggs after she received her breast cancer diagnosis because she and her partner John Mulaney may want to have more children.

"After my diagnosis, we decided to try one more round of egg retrievals and hoped it was a good month," she said. "John and I talked about it a lot and we don't feel like we're done growing our family, but didn't know if I would have to do chemotherapy or radiation."

Olivia first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in March 2024.

Olivia first revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2024, saying that she had undergone four surgeries over the previous 10 months.

She added that she had been diagnosed with Luminal B cancer, an aggressive, fast-moving form of cancer just two months after she had a normal mammogram.

"I'm lucky," she wrote at the time. "We caught it with enough time that I had options. I want the same for any woman who might have to face this one day."

Throughout her treatment, Olivia has stressed how fortunate she is both to have caught it early and to be in a position where she can afford to preserve her eggs and take other steps to make sure she receives the best care possible.

Olivia's openness about her various treatments and how she has made her decisions have been an inspiration to many struggling with similar issues. While it seems like Olivia is healthy, she's certainly not out of the woods yet, and her treatment may be ongoing for some time.
