Who Is Renée Elise Goldsberry's Husband? Let's Meet Alexis Johnson

Renée is married to Alexis Johnson, the Vice President at Charter Communications in NYC and an attorney from NYC, per Medium. The couple got married on Dec. 8, 2002. At the time they got married, Alexis worked at Spectrum, which is a cable company. After working at the cable company for nearly a decade, he began working as the Senior Director of Spectrum and was later promoted to vice president.

In 2020, Alexis won the Next Generation Leader Award from Spectrum. According to Alexis' LinkedIn profile, he went to Southwestern Law School, where he studied law. He also went to the University of Virginia and earned an NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program degree. In November 2022, Alexis and Renee celebrated their 20-year anniversary together.

Despite being married to a famous actor, Alexis keeps his life very private and not a lot of information is known about him. However, Renée does share updates about her and her husband on her Instagram.

Renée and Alexis have two children together. In March 2024, Renée opened up about a miscarriage she had nearly a decade prior. She shared with People, "It was an emotional time for me, doing The Color Purple, because I had lost a baby doing The Color Purple. And I remember thinking when I was receiving a Tony and thanking God for the opportunity to have been in that show and to have been in this show and to have these children."

In 2009, Alexis and Renée had their son Benjamin. In 2014, the couple adopted their daughter, Brielle. While Renée has been open about her struggles in motherhood, she makes it clear that she finds a lot of joy in it as well.

In an interview Renée did with People in 2020, she shared, "My greatest wish for my children is that they fulfill their purpose. I know that all children, and in particular mine, are here for a reason. My path to motherhood was challenging, to say the least." She also shared, "My son said to me the other day, ‘Why are you so dramatic?’ And I just thought, ‘Really? You know that word? And also, you’ve already noticed how dramatic I am?’ That just really made me laugh."
