TV Personality Ricki Lake Has Been Married a Few Times

Few celebrities have worn as many hats throughout their careers as Ricki Lake. Although many millennials may recognize her as the host of the eponymous Ricki Lake talk show from 1993 to 2004, she initially got her start in acting. She made her film debut as the lead in the 1988 musical film Hairspray, which would go on to become a popular musical in the early 2000s. She continued to make various TV appearances and even came in third place on Season 13 of Dancing With the Stars.

Ricki also appeared on shows like The Masked Singer, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and even made cameo appearances on several adaptations of Hairspray. She has dipped her toes into podcasts and launched her own series called Raised by Ricki back in 2022.

With as many roles as Ricki has filled throughout her career, it might surprise you to know that she has been married multiple times. Let's take a quick look at her romantic history and her current marital status.

Ricki has had a few husbands as of this writing. She met her first husband, illustrator Rob Sussman, in 1993. They got married in March 1994 and they even had two sons together. However, they filed for divorce by August 2003 with the separation being finalized less than a year later in February 2004.

By mid-2009, Ricki started seeing jewelry designer Christian Evans. In an interview with People Magazine, Ricki stated, "He's a nobody but he's somebody to me. He's everything to me."

The two of them tied the knot later in April 2014. However, this marriage wouldn't last nearly as long as her first. In 2014, Ricki and Christian filed for divorce. It was later made official in 2015. One has to wonder if calling him "nobody" had anything to do with them calling it quits.

It would be another long while until Ricki found love again. However, she later made a surprise announcement on Instagram in 2021. On February 20 of that year, she revealed her engagement to a man named Ross Burningham. In her announcement post, she romantically stated, "He is my person. He is wonderful. I love him very much and I am so grateful I get to love and be loved so deeply by this stellar human."

They officially got married in early January 2022 at a private ceremony at their home. In another exclusive interview with People, Ricki said of their wedding that it "could not have been a more perfect day."
