Seeing dancers all over your TikTok for you page isn't a rare sight — but the Netflix documentary Dancing for the Devil unveiled a sinister behind-the-scenes look at some of the app's popular creators. The three-part documentary unpacks the management company 7M Films, which allegedly trapped its clients into a cult and alienated them from their friends, families, and loved ones.

7M Films was founded by Robert Shinn, a pastor of the Los Angeles Shekinah Church. Robert has been the subject of a series of allegations, including financial and sexual coercion. The family of client Miranda Derrick also claims 7M is the reason they don't have contact with their daughter anymore. The documentary has put him, his company, and his church under a pretty intense spotlight. So where is he now?

Where is Robert Shinn now? He's facing a lawsuit from former 7M clients.

Little is known about Robert's day-to-day at the moment, though he's reportedly still in Los Angeles, living with his son, Isaiah. Though the documentary has put his organizations, he hasn't stepped down from the company or the church. That said, according to the documentary, there is an ongoing lawsuit set to go to trial sometime in 2025 against 7M, filed by former clients.

“Even though we were only in there for two years, it’s still two years of our life that we spent battling to give full attention to [Shinn] and his church,” dancer and former client of 7M Kylie Douglas told Rolling Stone. “We just no longer want him to be able to do that to anyone: the brainwashing, the manipulating, running people down — giving their time, giving their effort, giving their money, giving all they got for something that is a false hope.”

Robert has publicly denied the allegations of financial and sexual coercion and claims that clients of 7M do not have to be members of the church, or vice versa.

Following the documentary, 7M released a statement about the allegations detailed throughout the series, denying the claims that it had played a part in separating Miranda from her family.

“Despite her family’s claims, Miranda is a successful businesswoman and a loving wife and daughter who cares very much about her family,” the statement to Daily Mail read. "It is pathetic and contemptible to try to turn her private family matters into a tawdry public scandal for clicks and clout. While the recent portrayals of Dr. Robert Shinn and 7M Films have been wildly offensive and riddled with inaccuracies, those false claims will not deter 7M from supporting Miranda in whichever endeavors she chooses to pursue next.”

It's currently unclear what exactly will unfold once the trial begins, but it's clear that 7M and the Shekinah Church will continue to remain under intense scrutiny until it resolves.

Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok Cult is now streaming on Netflix.
