Sarah Becker From 'The Real World: Miami' Has Died, According to Family Members

On June 23, 2024, it was confirmed by the family of The Real World alum Sarah Becker that she passed away the previous week. She was 52 years old. But what is Sarah Becker's cause of death? Whether you watched the early days of MTV's The Real World or you you became a fan later on, the earlier seasons of the show hold a special place in fans' hearts.

And if you are one of the dedicated fans who still remember those first few golden seasons, then chances are, you remember Sarah for bringing a puppy back to The Real World house in Miami, much to the surprise of her roommates, and for her love of skateboarding. And skateboarding is something that continued to follow Sarah for the rest of her life.

When Sarah's family confirmed her death to TMZ, they shared that she died by suicide. According to the family via the outlet, Sarah dealt with mental health struggles before her death. She had also made a big move from California to Illinois to take care of her mother. No other details about Sarah's death were released, however. In addition to her life-long love of skateboarding, Sarah was a licensed marriage and family therapist too, with a business based out of California.

Upon the news of Sarah's death, fans, former co-stars, and even former co-workers took to social media to send their love and condolences to Sarah's family. According to one post, Sarah had worked as an editor on comics, including the popular series Gen13, and she was seen at a convention a few years before her death. Another former colleague shared on Facebook that Sarah was a "unique gem of a person."

Elsewhere, a fan shared on Twitter: "Seeing the news of Sarah Becker's death is hitting me in a really strange way because it connects to this teenage section of my life where I wanted to be her so bad, both for editing Gen13 and being on The Real World. She seemed so cool to my 14-year-old self. May she find peace now."

Shortly before Sarah's passing, according to family, she suffered a skateboarding accident that left her unable to participate in the hobby that had been part of her life for decades. That, paired with her mental health struggles leading up to her death, made things difficult for Sarah. And although her death was unexpected for many, she continues to live on in fans' hearts.
