Tanner Fox Has Only Uploaded One Video in the Last Two Years — Where'd He Go?

While the community of people who could be described as influencers is pretty large, few people commanded a bigger following at the peak of their fame than Tanner Fox. Tanner had more than 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel back in 2022, but he has only uploaded one video to his channel in the past two years.

Following his apparent disappearance from YouTube, many wanted to know where Tanner was and what happened to him. Here's what we know about Tanner's disappearance and what might explain it.

Tanner has been largely absent from the internet, but in September of 2022, he did offer an explanation for his absence during an appearance on The Roman Atwood Podcast.

"Yeah, we’ll talk about it on here. I got like heavily into shrooms, like psychedelics," he said. "For probably a year and a half, I was doing it like five times a week," adding “I haven’t in like eight or nine months, but yeah, I got into that s--t pretty heavily, and I like lost my mind for a while.”

Tanner then added that his heavy use of psychadelics overlapped with him stopping his YouTube posting.

“It was kinda like a bleeding part in the middle of it. Like it kind of assisted both I think, YouTube stopping and then that starting," he said.

Tanner said that his struggles with addiction were not the sole reason he stopped posting on YouTube, but they were a significant contributor.

During that podcast appearance, Tanner also said that he was working on rebuilding his team after taking a year off. A year and a half later, though, there's no indication that he'll be making a full-time return to the platform. Like many influencers, it seems like he may have suffered from some depression and turned to drugs as a result, ultimately deciding that his posting habits were not healthy for his life.

Given the incredible success Tanner's YouTube channel gave him, it makes sense that he might want to step back from regular posting if he has enough money to live a life that's more offline. Other than discussing his drug use, though, Tanner hasn't gone into much detail about what led him to leave.

At one point, it looked like Tanner might be planning to come back to YouTube, but now, it's unclear whether that's actually going to happen. For now, then, fans will have to be content rewatching Tanner's old videos and just hope that he may someday come back to his channel.

His return to YouTube would undoubtedly be a welcome one, but that doesn't mean he's guaranteed to do it. It can be taxing to feel the expectations of fans regularly, and there's plenty of reason to avoid the internet if you've already earned enough money to be able to do so. Only time will tell what Tanner decides to do.
