Sure, she's a fantastic singer and songwriter, but Taylor Swift has just added "fearless firefighter" to her list of talents! In June 2024, Taylor's friend Gracie Abrams spilled the beans that the pop star once saved the day by putting out a fire in her $50 million New York City apartment.
Well, how did this house fire start?! And how did Taylor stay so cool, calm, and collected knowing her swanky apartment was on the brink of going up in flames? Here's the scoop!
Taylor Swift tackled this house fire like a champ!
While speaking with Billboard in June 2024, Gracie hilariously recounted a cozy dinner with Taylor about six months ago, complete with plenty of drinks. She said they heard a candle fall over earlier that evening, but Taylor chalked it up to her cats' shenanigans.
Fast forward to the wee hours of the morning, and bam: The pair discovered that Taylor's kitchen was on fire. The 14-time Grammy winner immediately sprang into action, swiftly tackling the flames with a fire extinguisher.
"She was such a legend — I don't know how at this hour or in our state she knew what to do," Gracie explained to Billboard over Zoom. "We both had an insane cough from the fire extinguisher fumes for weeks."
On June 20, Gracie shared a video on Instagram from the night of the house fire. It started with Taylor holding a fire extinguisher and asking Gracie, "What do I do about this?!"
Gracie replied, "OK, you're gonna fire extinguish it — not water!" She then flipped the camera to reveal the fire, while Taylor could be heard in the background exclaiming, "I think we're gonna die."
Taylor then hurried back with the fire extinguisher, struggling a bit with it and even calling it a "b---h." Eventually, the "Down Bad" singer figured it out and triumphantly put out the fire!
A few moments later, Taylor lamented to Gracie, "Our purses are ruined ... and my shoes." Girl, at least you're alive — you can always shop for new purses and shoes!
