'The Voice' Coach Kelly Clarkson Compares Contestant Mendeleyev's Voice to "Pinot Noir"

As judges — Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson — continue to battle it out to build their team of singers on NBC’s The Voice, one talented musician left the coaches in awe. With a four-chair turn, The Voice competitor Mendeleyev Galileo Einstein Pythagoras Darwin Euclid Leonardo Alan Blitz (no, seriously) or “Lev” stunned audiences and the A-list musicians with his cover of Bob Dylan's classic, "Girl From the North Country." 

"I feel like your voice just sounds like the best glass of pinot noir ever," said Kelly. "I feel like a warm blanket was just wrapped around me." Adding, "It's the most beautiful moment ever. I would like to hear a record of you on vinyl." Ultimately, Lev chose to be on “Team John” after the two bond over his musical inspiration Richie Havens. So, who is the Santa Barbara native that has captivated both fans and the judges? 

The Berklee College of Music graduate (2013) has been striving towards becoming a well-known singer/songwriter. He’s released music on Spotify, the music streaming app, and debuted his first album, "Juxtapositions" in 2018.  

According to his website: “Each song is a different genre/perspective on leaving a relationship. All instruments played by Mendeleyev (other than woodwinds, strings, and horns). All songs written by Mendeleyev.” Hey, maybe we'll even get to watch Lev perform an original song on the show!

Sorry, ladies! According to his social media, Lev has been dating longtime girlfriend Sonya for almost four years. This past Valentine’s Day, he posted a string of pictures dedicated to his lady love, which he captioned, “I love you @sonya.why.not... Happy [heart] day! Here’s a look into our past year together.”

Sonya currently works as a massage therapist and personal healer. Her company, Born For More Family Wellness offers services, which include: Yoga classes, holistic massages for expectant mothers, babies, and “any person experiencing pain or lack of mobility.” 

If you’re not already doing so, you should totally follow Lev on social media. His Instagram is full of videos of the artist showing off his musical talents. Lev also added a bit of comedy to his performance videos by donning an animal emoji over his face while he’s singing. In April, he posted a clip of himself performing a Sublime tribute. 

Besides videos and pictures of the artist showing off his musicality, Lev also posts snaps of his family and friends, artistic selfies, and the occasional travel pic. Basically, you’ll never get bored searching through his social posts. Though the competition may be fierce for Season 17 of The Voice, we definitely think Lev’s unique style and smooth vocals are a standout.
