It's been years since the hit ABC drama Pretty Little Liars helped her rise to fame, but Shay Mitchell is back on the small screen with her own show.

The Max original Thirst with Shay Mitchell follows the actress on a series of international adventures as she visits four different countries in South America to learn about (and taste) some of their best cocktails and drinks.

The four episodes of the first season were released once a week through late May and early June, but there's already hope for a Season 2. Following the conclusion of her first original show on Max, Shay spoke exclusively with Distractify about Thirst, dishing on whether there will be a second season of the intimate travel program.

Season 1 explored the different beverages of South America.

Though Shay and her team only had four episodes to share everything they'd seen, it seems it was barely enough time to scratch the surface of some of the phenomenal beverages in South America.

"Originally we were going to South and Central America but a couple of months before pre-production we attended a dinner with a famous Brazilian chef where we learned about cachaça," Shay said, speaking about the popular Brazilian spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice.

Though she and her team already had a plan in place for the location they'd wanted to film in the first season, that dinner convinced them to rearrange their schedule.

"After that dinner where we were introduced to Novo Fogo, we decided to turn the production on its head and re-route our journey to include Brazil and the Novo Fogo Distillery in the Atlantic Rainforest," she said.

Brazil is explored in the show's last episode of the season, diving into cachaça specifically.

"I felt it was really important to let the drinks tell the way, and that is how we ultimately ended up going to these four countries," Shay continued. "They had great stories to tell."

That was her and the production team's main goal with this first season — to explore different countries through the lens of the different beverages.

"I was really surprised once we started to dig in about just how much you can learn about a place…we just scratched the surface as a season one show," she said.

Will there be a Season 2 of 'Thirst With Shay Mitchell'?

At this time, HBO hasn't announced if the short show will be renewed for a second season of drinks around the world, but Shay admitted she's already thinking about possible locations to explore if it's greenlit.

"I really hope [there will be a new season]!" she said. "We learned so many things that we would love to be able to apply to a Season 2... Fingers crossed!"

If a second season of the show follows the same format as the first, then we can expect Shay and her team to visit four new countries. Where Season 1 focused on South America, she admitted she's already eyeing some countries in Asia to explore next, though she didn't provide further details about which ones are on her bucket list.

All four episodes of Thirst with Shay Mitchell are now available to stream on Max.
