Miami Marlins shortstop Tim Anderson and wife Bria Anderson are have a party of five after welcoming their third child in April 2024.
“Pure perfection,” Bria wrote on Instagram on April 7, alongside a photo of the newborn. “Welcome to the world, son. Timothy Devon Anderson III, nicknamed Trey.”
That news came after much upheaval for the family, since Tim had a child out of wedlock. Here’s more about the fallout and recovery from that painful chapter in their lives.
Tim Anderson’s wife said they were “working” on their marriage amid the cheating scandal.
In the summer of 2022, a hairstylist named De’jah Laneé said on Instagram that she was pregnant with Tim’s baby and shared pictures of herself and the athlete, per Page Six. “Baby father,” Laneé wrote alongside one photo of herself and the MLB star.
Tim’s child with Laneé, a baby named Sevn, arrived in October 2022, Page Six reports.
For her part, Bria took to Instagram to call Laneé a “known side chick,” the outlet adds.
Bria also addressed her and Tim’s relationship. “Moment of authenticity — I know we’re all on social media, but there’s a distinction between the internet and real life,” she told followers, per The Shade Room. “In real life, I am a mother and a wife that cares about my family above anything else. My truth is that my husband and I are working on our marriage, and I’m not interested in the internet games. I ask for everyone to respect my family’s privacy. XO, Mrs. Anderson”
Tim opened up about his infidelity on a podcast that same year.
On a June 2023 episode of the podcast The Pivot, Tim confirmed that he had a child out of wedlock and that he and Bria had been working through that drama.
“We went to therapy, just digging into what was it, what caused me to go into these spaces or even that space to even create that,” he said. “It’s a tough conversation. It’s a tough situation. I feel like we did a lot of work as far as understanding it and showing my love to my wife and to my kids. But it’s something that I’m still going through, trying to master it to get to the point to where I’m OK with walking it and stepping in it, 1,000 percent, for sure.”
He added: “I was just trying to find who I am and continue to keep going and identify myself. I made a couple decisions that probably shouldn’t have been made along the way, but I’m open to dealing with them and growing with them. This is what it is. I’m willing to take whatever smoke comes with it, and I just really want to be honest.”
He said he’ll always try to “better [himself] as a person and as a player.”
In November 2023, the Chicago White Sox declined a $14 million option with Tim, and he signed a $5 million, one-year contract with Miami two months later.
“I’m getting the work in that I need. Just excited about my future,” he said in April 2024, per the Associated Press.
He said at the time that his “decisions” off the field “interrupted a lot of things” in his professional career, but he was committed to growth.
“I’m always going to try to get better and better myself as a person and as a player,” he said.
