Toya says setting boundaries is easier said than done, but she's learning that her peace comes first.

Throughout Season 1, conflicts persisted at every turn. Casey, Toya's brother, felt that Toya didn't understand his struggles, and she failed to help him with his music career. Toya and her sister Beedy bumped heads because the family was not fond of Beedy's partner, Mel.

Additionally, Mel made disparaging comments about Reginae, with the two nearly coming to blows.

As for Toya's mom, Ms. Anita, Toya has felt that Ms. Anita has not played her role as the family's matriarch. However, Ms. Anita shared that she's been going through bouts of depression due to losing children.

Despite Toya's feelings, she has always tried to keep her family together. But, after realizing the toll it has taken on her well-being — with frequent reminders from her best friend Danielle —she has decided to reevaluate how she handles her family.

"It gets overwhelming, and it definitely affects your immediate family," Toya exclusively tells us. "I can't show up the way I want to for my husband, my kids, my business, the things that I have going on because of the stress that's lingering on from here. So, it's just a learning lesson for me."

She continued, "All of my family matters to me, but the older I get, the more I realize that I have to focus on the family that I created. I'll still be there for them, but I must put those boundaries in place."

As for Reginae, it's been hard to watch Toya navigate family conflicts, especially when her mother has done so much for their loved ones.

"I don't want to see her hurt," Reginae shares. "I don't want to see her going above and beyond for people who don't appreciate her or who feel entitled."

Despite criticisms about Toya and Reginae's relationship, the pair believes their dynamic shows you can be a friend and a parent to your child.

Over the years, netizens have criticized the pair for not having what they believe to be a proper mother-and-daughter relationship. Some would say it's because Toya had Reginae too young, so they essentially grew up together. Others think it's because of their lifestyle.

Although opinions about Toya and Reginae's relationship dynamic persist, the two ladies believe that being a friend and a parent to your child is key.

"There's a way to have a healthy parenting relationship and have a form of friendship with them where you're able to discuss things with them, and they can come to you and talk to you about things," Toya explains. "Kids hold on to so much because they're afraid to express themselves to their parents because we were always told, 'Stay in a child's place. No shade to the people who parent that way, but I prefer to take a different approach."

Reginae shared that while growing up, Toya made it clear they were not friends; she was the parent. After all, confusion can arise when you flirt with the line of friend and parent. However, the comfort was always there. "She always made me feel comfortable still to talk to her," Reginae says. "As I've gotten older, I just started being a friend to my mom."

That said, Toya has no qualms about calling out Reginae when need be. In the trailer for Season 2, Reginae's spending habits were a concern for Toya. And while Reginae is a grown woman, some may say she has the right to make her own decisions. However, Toya stands firm in giving Reginae advice as needed.

"I'm gonna allow her to make her own decisions, but I'm always going to tell her about herself," Toya affirms. "If I think things are getting out of hand, or if I need to give her advice on something —even if it's things that she doesn't really want to hear — I'm gonna always make sure I let her know."

While Reginae jokes about rating her spending habits at an 11 on a scale of one to 10, she does share that being an adult has allowed her to put things into perspective.

"The older I get, I realize there are bills, so I have to calm down," Reginae admits. "I am so thankful to my mom, though, because she's the person that keeps me accountable."

Judging by the trailer, fans are in for a whirlwind of emotions for Season 2 of Toya & Reginae. The mother-daughter duo describes the season as "real, raw, and authentic." And with a two-episode bump, fans will have eight episodes to enjoy as the duo showcases their reality.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Toya & Reginae are now streaming on ALLBLK.
