Here's what we know about Victor Wembanyama's parents.

Victor was born Jan. 4, 2004, in Le Chesnay, France. Although he uses the last name Wembanyama, his full name is actually Victor Nonga Wembanyama-de Fautereau-Vassel.

Victor's father, Felix, was born in Belgium but is of Congolese origin.

Felix was himself an athlete, although his skills lay more in the area of track and field than on the basketball court. However, his specialties on the track included the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. This may be part of why his son is such a superstar on the basketball court.

Less is publicly known about Victor's mother, Elodie. In an interview with Slam, Victor playfully called his mom "eccentric" and revealed that she was once a basketball player too.

We also know, thanks to Wikipedia, that both parents stand at 6-foot-3-inches, which is a full foot shorter than their superstar son.

And Victor towers over his siblings, too.

Victor's sister is also a basketball star, and his brother's no shrinking violet.

Victor is the middle child of three. His brother, Oscar, stands at 6-foot-5-inches, while his sister Eve stands at a comparatively short 6-foot-1-inch.

Like their brother Victor, Oscar and Eve both have their own skills on the basketball court.

Eve is the eldest Wembanyama child, born on Dec. 10, 2001. Then came Victor. After Victor was Oscar, who was born on March 18, 2007.

She has played on multiple levels, with most of her career focused in France. According to her FIBA record, teams she has played for include playing at the LDLC ASVEL of Lyon, France for EuroLeague Women. She has also competed in the FIBA U20 Women’s European Challengers competition and the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship.

In an interview with Euroleague Basketball, Oscar revealed that he was inspired by his siblings to stop playing handball and focus on basketball during the COVID lockdowns in 2020. He shared, "There was a period when I was not doing anything because of Covid, and that emptiness pushed me to do something new, so I turned to basketball."

And his siblings, he added, were guiding stars to look up to: "My sister and my brother were both French champions, and that was my goal from the start of the season, even though I was just starting basketball."

The Wembanyamas are a loving family, and they show up to each other's games to cheer one another on. Victor's parents can sometimes be seen in the audience at his big games, anxiously watching their son dominate the court.

Although the 2025 season brought bad news to Victor, the Wembanyama family seems like the type to be patiently waiting and cheering on his chance to return.
