While attempting to rally public support from his followers to get Twitch to ban gambling content from its platform, popular streamer Mizkif found himself in some hot water back in September 2022.
He and Trainwreckstv, another streamer who's built his following on a variety of gambling content, started arguing online when Trainwreck accused Mizkif of covering up sexual assault allegations for his friend CrazySlick.
As a result, an internal investigation was conducted at OTK (short for "One True King"), the creator group that Mizkif helped to co-found. Was he kicked out of OTK? Here's what we know about his future as a creator.
Mizkif was put on leave from OTK while a third party investigated the allegations.
Following the many allegations against Mizkif and CrazySlick, OTK made the decision to put Mizkif "on leave" while a third party investigated the allegations against him.
"Due to the seriousness of what has been brought forward, we have begun the process of contracting third-party legal organization to investigate the issue in detail," the organization wrote in a statement. "OTK strongly condemns sexual harassment, assault, and bigotry of all forms.
The initial investigation did suggest that his alleged involvement in the allegations against CrazySlick was being taken seriously — as were some screenshots of texts in which Mizkif appeared to use harmful language.
Unfortunately, Mizkif didn't necessarily make a good name for himself while on leave from the board. In October 2022, the content creator initiated a "comeback stream," which was widely criticized by fans after Mizkif allegedly "plays victim" amidst the allegations.
That seemed to be the final straw of Mizkif's reputation over at OTK. On Dec. 31, 2022, OTK released a statement addressing both the results of the internal investigation as well as Mizkif's future at the gaming organization.
According to OTK, the investigator "did not find direct evidence that Mizkif attempted to minimize or cover up sexual assault as alleged." While that might have been good news for Mizkif at a certain point, the content of his comeback stream has deemed him fit for punishment.
The statement reads: "OTK believes that Mizkif has shown as callous disregard towards the severity of sexual misconduct and racial prejudice in our space. His statements regarding these matters on his 'comeback stream' on October 11th demonstrated a lack of empathy and ignorance towards the seriousness of the situation and the impact that his conduct has had on our community. Due to his actions, the OTK Board of Directors has suspended Mizkif from his board duties effective immediately."
OTK has also confirmed that Mizkif is currently on "monitored probation" and that his status as an OTK member has "otherwise been reinstated."
Mizkif released a new statement in 2023.
As 2023 kicks off, Mizkif made another appearance after a months-long hiatus during the internal investigation at OTK and subsequent comeback stream. In a short YouTube video, Mizkif offered an apology for his behavior during the October stream.
"My behavior on that stream was absolutely unacceptable," Mizkif admitted. "I communicated almost everything terribly and I was completely [oblivious] to such a serious situation."
