The roast of Tom Brady poked fun at many aspects of the football legend's career, including his various relationships. Tom was famously married to supermodel Gisele Bündchen for more than a decade, and also famously earned less money than her every year.
Before Tom was with Gisele, though, he was in another fairly serious relationship with actor Bridget Moynahan, and many are now wondering whether the two of them were married. Here's what we know about their relationship.
Was Tom Brady married to Bridget Moynahan?
Tom called attention to his two baby mamas in a post on Mother's Day. “Happy Mothers Day to these kind, caring, compassionate and POWERFUL moms that I’m lucky to have in my life. None of this would be possible without your love ❤️❤️❤️,” he wrote in the post.
Bridget and Tom have one child together, while he and Gisele had two more. Tom and Bridget were never married, but they did date for two years from 2004 to 2006.
Tom dumped Bridget when she was roughly three months pregnant, and almost immediately started a relationship with Gisele that lasted more than a decade.
Bridget's son with Tom, John Edward Thomas Moynahan (aka Jack), was born in August 2007. It seems like Tom may have been trying to mend some fences with his Instagram post. Both Bridget and Gisele caught some crossfire during his Roast, whether he intended them to or not.
Gisele and Bridget both came up during Tom Brady's Roast.
Plenty of people got made fun of during Netflix's Roast of Tom Brady, but Gisele and Bridget both got brought up even though neither one of them was in attendance.
Comedians made fun of Tom for leaving Bridget while she was pregnant, and also made fun of Tom for getting dumped by Gisele, who is now rumored to be dating her jiujitsu instructor.
Bridget posted something cryptic on Instagram following the roast that seemed to be pointed at Tom and those who made jokes about her.
“Loyal people take s--t more personal because they never would’ve done [sic] that s--t to you," she wrote.
According to People, sources said that Gisele also had a negative reaction to the Roast jokes.
The source said that Gisele was “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.”
While Tom certainly wasn't directly responsible for the jokes, he definitely put Bridget and Gisele in the line of fire, and the two women already have plenty of reason to be angry with him because of their histories together.
While some gave him kudos for wishing them both Happy Mother's Day, one would hope that they also got a more private apologize from the former professional quarterback.
While Tom built quite a legend for himself on the field, it's clear that he also left quite a bit of wreckage behind in his personal life. Now that he's retired, he may have more time to start mending the relationships that he damaged during his 20 years in professional football.
