Most fans of Red Bull drinks tend to look forward to the seasonal releases, and ahead of the summer of 2024, many were ready to see what the brand would roll out in time for the warmer months. It just so happens that the sugar free side of Red Bull has some new editions, and we tried them both to see if they’re worth keeping around.

On June 17, 2024, Red Bull released Red Edition Sugar Free and Amber Edition Sugar Free. The latter has a strawberry apricot flavor, while the former is watermelon. And, dare we say, one of the Red Bull flavors definitely has a stronger taste than the other. However, there are mocktail recipes from Red Bull that you can use to shake things up with both drinks.

We tried Red Bull Red Edition Sugar Free and Amber Edition Sugar Free.

Although the standard Red Bull Red tastes more tart, the Red Bull Red Edition Sugar Free tastes like watermelon. However, the flavor is fairly mild, which makes it a lighter version of the original Red Edition, further separating it from the original flavor. With the Amber Edition, you can instantly taste something almost tropical, or like kiwi, and the flavor is stronger with this one than the Red Edition.

If you’re after something with a mild taste, then the Red Bull Red Sugar Free is probably what you want. However, if you’re hoping for a drink with a little more oomph to it and tropical undertones, whether intentional or not, then you’ll probably prefer the Red Bull Amber Edition Sugar Free.

Red Bull has mocktail recipes for the sugar free drinks.

Whether you just want to spice up your sugar free Red Bull, or you want to make it a little more fun to enjoy a Red Bull by the pool during the summer months, Red Bull has a couple of different mocktails to whip up with these sugar free options.

For the Apricot Smash, mix serrano peppers, peach nectar, monk fruit syrup, lemon juice, and, of course, some Red Bull Amber Edition Sugar Free, and pour over ice. You can then garnish the drink with Tajin on the rim and lemon wheel or wedge.

The other mocktail, the Watermelon Fizz, requires watermelon, cucumber, mint leaves, lime juice, and monk fruit syrup with Red Bull Red Edition Sugar Free. It’s recommended that you garnish this one with a mint sprig and cucumber slice.

How much caffeine do cans of Red Bull have?

Standard 8.4-ounce cans of Red Bull Red Edition and Red Bull Amber Edition each contain 80 mg of caffeine. It’s considerably less than a lot of other canned energy drinks on shelves, however the can is also smaller, which makes these energy drinks a good pick-me-up in the middle or at the end of a long workday.
