What Does John Luke Robertson From 'Duck Dynasty' Do for Work These Days?

John Luke Robinson is the oldest son of Korie and Willie Robertson, who rose to fame on his family’s reality show, Duck Dynasty. John was only 16 years old when the first season of the show premiered on A+E Networks, and audiences have seen him grow into a fine, young man over the course of the show’s ten-season run.

Over 3 million audience members were blessed to witness John Luke’s 2015 wedding to childhood sweetheart Mary Kate McEacharn in Season 8. He proposed to Mary Kate on his 19th birthday, following in the footsteps of his parents who also married when they were quite young. 

Following the nuptials, John Luke and Mary Kate moved to Lynchburg, Va., where they both attended Liberty University.

But now that the two have long graduated from their undergraduate studies, fans are wondering what they’ve been up to.

While John Luke Robertson grew up a member of arguably one of the more famous families in America, he was never content to settle for just fame and money. Duck Dynasty, the show which propelled his family to notoriety, featured all the colorful members of John Luke’s family, as well as their housekeeping staff.

Audiences quickly fell in love with the dimpled 16-year old who always had a cute smile at the ready. But while John Luke could have milked his role on the show and settled for an easier life, he gradually started to find his own path.

He began to shift his focus from the show and started to write. In 2014, John Luke released his first book series titled, Be Your Own Duck Commander. 

This four-book juvenile fiction series was inspired by his own family and their antics. It's a choose-your-own-adventure book that invites readers to participate in the zany life of a Duck Commander’s world.

John Luke has continued to build up his CV as an author. In 2016, following his wedding to Mary Kate, John Luke released his second book called, Young and Beardless: The Search for God, Purpose and a Meaningful Life.

The book took John Luke about a year to write and was inspired by his relationship with Mary Kate. It begins just before the couple got engaged and ends with them getting married.

John Luke isn’t the only one chronicling the couple’s life together, however. It turns out his wife, Mary Kate, is an equally gifted writer and she runs a blog, The Little Duck Wife. In it she lays the couple’s lives out like an open book for their fans. 

“Other than saying yes to Jesus, saying yes to John Luke was the best 'yes' of my life. Being married to him has been the GREATEST adventure,” Mary Kate gushes on a post about what it’s like for her to get married so young. 

The blog also contains snippets about their daily lives, their journey as new parents and marriage advice for other young couples.
