'Perfect Match' Star Jake Cunningham Discusses Flood of DMs Since Breakup (SPOILERS)

This popular reality dating series brings some of our favorite Netflix reality stars to a lush tropical villa, where they attempt to find their perfect match. Every episode sees couples competing in "compatibility challenges," with the winning duo earning a private date and the power to introduce two fresh singles into the mix.
Episode 5 welcomes two fresh faces, including Jake Cunningham from Season 1 of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. During his introduction, the Army veteran briefly reflects on his previous relationship, hinting at a breakup.

What happened between 'Perfect Match' contestant Jake Cunningham and his ex?
The last time we saw Jake on the small screen was in the first season of Netflix's reality dating show The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, where he split up with his girlfriend, April Marie, to be with Rae Williams. The pair immediately hit it off on their first date, and in the finale, Jake presents Rae with two plane tickets to a destination of her choosing.
However, their anticipated getaway never came to fruition because Jake and Rae broke up post-show. In April 2022, Rae spoke with E! News and opened up about their split.
"I kind of felt like so much had gone on," Rae explained. "With Jake and April ending things and Zay and me ending things, I didn't feel comfortable just, like, hopping on a plane and going off to have fun. I really needed to take time to heal."
Since the show ended, Jake has taken a hiatus from both reality TV and social media. His most recent Instagram post dates back to December 2023, but there's a chance he might return to the platform to share insights about his experience on Season 2 of Perfect Match.
Speaking of Perfect Match, Jake briefly addresses his breakup with Rae on the show: "Me and my ex went our separate ways, but trust me, my DMs are full," he says. Well, it's clear he's been enjoying himself, but now it appears the Texas native is finally ready to pursue a more serious relationship and perhaps even find his wife!
Jake's time on 'Perfect Match' is short-lived — or is it?
In the fifth episode, Jake makes his Perfect Match debut and goes on a date with The Trust contestant Tolú Ekundare. The two meet at a gym and seemingly hit it off, but upon their return to the villa, it seems things have fizzled out between them. Jake's attention shifts to other ladies, leaving Tolú feeling overlooked in the dating show.
However, there's a major twist as Dated & Related star Chris Hahn swoops in to save the day! The ex-stripper and Tolú decide to take their friendship to the next level and couple up for the night — how cute!
Now, despite chatting with the other women, Jake fails to secure a match and leaves the villa sooner than anticipated. But is this the end of his journey? Nope! Following the sixth episode, a sneak peek of future episodes unveils that all those eliminated or not chosen to join the villa through The Boardroom are making their way back to the villa to find love.
The first six episodes of Perfect Match Season 2 are now streaming on Netflix. Episodes 7-9 will release on June 14, followed by the 10th and final episode on June 21.
