What happened to Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba?
In the social media statement, Chris revealed that he had been in a motorcycle accident on June. "My injuries were severe but not life-threatening," the post read. "I owe the amazing doctors, nurses, and medical team treating me my endless gratitude. I am determined to make a full recovery, but I have surgeries and months of rehab to come."
The band member also thanked the brands, Bell Helmets, Biltwell, Rev'it, Alpine Star, and Wolverine Boots "for making the safety gear that protected me in the crash."
Chris also thanked his friends and family "for coming together to support me in this time of need." He also thanked fans for supporting him through this period of time, noting that it will be "difficult physically, emotionally and financially."
Aside from his accident, Chris used the opportunity to shed light on the Black Lives Matter movement. "I have not lost sight of the social issues at hand and even in the condition I'm in I find it important to state that I stand with Black Lives Matter," the singer posted. "In the near future it is likely I will not be able to follow the news as much as I normally would. If you don't hear from me on critical social issue I trust that you will know where I stand."
Dashboard Confessional previously spoke out in the wake of George Floyd's death. "Racism Bigotry and Violence are indefensible," the band's statement read. "What happens to one, happens to all. We can and must do better."
Adding, "We have a duty as human beings to stand up for equality, and to band together to stamp out the evils the permeate our society. George Floyd's life was taken in an act of brutal and senseless violence. ... How many more names must be added to the list? Enough is enough."
Fans send well wishes to Chris after accident.
Following Chris' statement, fans of the singer immediately took to social media to send him well wishes on a speedy recovery. "Sending so many prayers and positive vibes your way. You have been a light in the dark for so many of us through the years, we will now serve as your light. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery with few bumps in the road. Take time, heal fully, stay positive, tweeted one fan.
Another person wrote, "Stay strong, Chris, and never doubt that you’re a bright light in this world (no matter how many times your songs have made me cry)."
Our thoughts go out to Chris at this time.
