What happened to Mamie Laverock? She fell five stories off a balcony walkway and is now on life support.

Mamie’s parents, Rob and Nicole Compton, started a GoFundMe to raise money after she went to the hospital on May 11, 2024. “On Saturday, May 11, Nicole traveled to Winnipeg to help Mamie, who was having a medical emergency. Nicole was able to get there in time to save her life. Then she got her to a hospital in Winnipeg. Mamie has since been transferred to hospital here in Vancouver. Her recovery is unclear at this time but she is alive and is showing signs of improvement,” they shared.

Mamie’s parents have every right to be vague about the “medical emergency” but whatever it was, fans were immediately relieved that she had been showing signs of improvement. That’s why it came as such a shock when things got immensely worse. According to Nicole and Rob, Mamie “fell five stories.”

The circumstances surrounding Mamie’s fall, however, seem inexplicable. “We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” the family shared. “She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support.”

Several fans started questioning why she was on a “balcony walkway” from which she could fall in the first place, especially if she was in fragile health. Whatever the reason for her fall or whatever happened, her family, friends, and past cast members are banding together to raise money and support for Mamie.

Mamie following has received lots of support since her fall.

As of May 29, 2024, Mamie’s family has already raised 29,152 CAD, just short of their $30,000 goal. Her When Calls the Heart co-stars Erin Krakow and Johannah Newmarch both shared the campaign and news on their social media accounts. Johannah wrote, “I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”
