The latest episode of Yellowstone left a few of the show's key characters in the lurch. The biggest cliffhanger revolved around Teeter and Colby, one of the third season's new will they/won't they couples. Teeter, who joined the show in the third season and works as a ranch hand on the Dutton farm, just got caught up in an old feud between John Dutton and this season's villain, Wade Morrow.

What happened to Teeter and Colby on 'Yellowstone'?

Wade Morrow showed up on the Yellowstone ranch with his son Clint, and the two of them came across Colby and Teeter while they were skinny dipping together. What was initially a romantic scene quickly turned into a menacing one as Wade and Clint began threatening the couple. Eventually, things got violent between them.

Clint and Wade, who had arrived at the ranch on horseback, took their horses out into the water and began trampling Teeter and Colby. The episode ends before either one of them has surfaced above the water, leaving viewers to wonder whether one or both of them may have died during the incident. While we may not know for sure until next week, this kind of cliffhanger has made viewers eager to see more.

Did Teeter die on 'Yellowstone'?

While the jury is still out on Colby or Teeter's deaths, Denim Richards, the actor who plays Colby, was bumped up to a series regular this season. Some have suggested that might make his death less likely on the series. Jennifer Landon, on the other hand, is still a recurring member of the cast, which may mean that she's the more likely one to die.

Whoever ends up surviving the incident, it seems like the stage is set for a confrontation between Wade and John, although the exact backstory between them is still somewhat unclear. The deaths of either Colby or Teeter would be shocking, and the move would certainly raise the stakes for the remainder of Season 3. Even if they were just attacked, though, that will still likely factor into the season's endgame.

The episode featured a number of other important developments as well.

Even outside of the cliffhanger with Colby and Teeter, the eighth episode of Yellowstone's third season also featured a bloodbath as Monica took part in the killing of a serial killer and rapist, as well as the fallout from the revelation that Jamie was not a biological Dutton. Beth also tried to convince John to sell the ranch for $500 million, an offer he seemed to reject out of hand.

As this season of Yellowstone winds to a close, there are still plenty of balls left up in the air that need to be resolved before the end of the season. Given the shocking developments the show has already thrown at viewers this year, it's hard to say for sure what's coming down the pike. Whatever it is, though, it's likely to be just as thrilling as all of the stuff we've already seen.
