Wayne admitted to his co-anchor that he had been diagnosed with a form of "oral cancer," which prompted a surgical response.

He revealed on the show, "The crazy thing is my surgeon said this type of cancer happens in people who chew tobacco, or [are] heavy smokers or heavy drinkers and I'm none of those."

Reportedly, he was told of "something in his mouth" by a dentist a year prior before doing anything about it.

"You never want to hear the word 'cancer,'" he admitted.

As of this writing, Wayne has stated that the cancer has been removed. However, he will continue to keep an eye on it for the foreseeable future.

On Fox 8 in the Morning, he stated, "I don't have to do any radiation or chemotherapy but they have to keep a check on it. I guess I am a cancer survivor now, another cause to champion."

We extend our well wishes to Wayne as he returns to work and continues to monitor his health moving forward.
