'The Kissing Booth 3' Won't Be Based on a Novel

Netflix's hit teen romance movies The Kissing Booth and The Kissing Booth 2 were both released to immediate success from fans who fell in love with the love story between high schooler Elle, and her now-college boyfriend, Noah. While the strength of their relationship was tested in the sequel as the duo dealt with the reality of a bicoastal relationship, their love story isn't over yet.

This love-struck series is based on a series of books by the same name, written by author Beth Reekles. Since The Kissing Booth 3 movie was just announced, fans are dying to know what happens in The Kissing Booth 3 book.

Unfortunately, for those who are dying to know what happens next in the Kissing Booth love story, there is not currently a third book out to devour and answer all of your burning questions.

That being said, it's possible there's a third book in the works from the novels' author, though Beth has made no announcement suggesting we can see it in print anytime soon. She recently put out the second book in the series titled The Kissing Booth 2: Going the Distance.

For those looking to relive the entire Kissing Booth experience, we recommend reading the books that inspired the very popular Netflix movie series. 

While we don't have any source material to base our assumptions on, the short teaser for the movie gives fans some ideas as to what actually happens in The Kissing Booth 3. 

First off, the trailer basically confirmed that most, if not all of the original cast members will be returning to the franchise. And despite Jacob Elordi's absence from the announcement, he will for sure be returning to conclude Elle's story. 

The Kissing Booth 2 left fans on a cliffhanger. While depicting the struggles between Elle and Noah as they navigate a long-distance relationship for the first time, Elle also has to decide whether she will keep her promise to Lee and attend Berkeley with him, or be with Noah at Harvard.

But despite much of the film focusing on Elle's tough decision, she never really comes to a conclusion before the movie ends. And according to Netflix, things get sticky for Elle in The Kissing Booth 3. 

"It's the summer before Elle (Joey King) heads to college, and she has a secret: She got into both Harvard, where her dreamy boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi) goes, and Berkeley, where her BFF Lee (Joel Courtney) is going. Which path will Elle choose?" the movie's summary reads.

The Kissing Booth 3 is bound to make Elle face that decision — though who she will choose to be with is still a mystery.

Unfortunately, despite already being filmed, The Kissing Booth 3 won't be released on the streaming service until sometime in 2021. According to Variety, the third movie was shot at the same time as The Kissing Booth 2, meaning it's possible the third installment is only mere months away.

Netflix has yet to confirm an exact release date yet. Until then, we'll have to settle for rewatching the first two movies on repeat.
