Suri Cruise Is All Grown Up and Heading Off to College

It seems like only yesterday that Tom Cruise was jumping on Oprah Winfrey's couch and professing his love for Katie Holmes. Oh, the memories. Of course, that relationship ended over 10 years ago, and since then, the famous couple (or at least Katie) has gone out of their way to shield their only daughter, Suri, from the media spotlight.

Flash forward to 2024, and Suri is all grown up and headed to college!

The 18-year-old has let fans into her life for the briefest of moments to share where she has committed to spend the next four years of her life. Read on for the details.

In a TikTok set to private, Suri appears with her high school classmates to share where they are committing to college.

As InStyle reports, the famed daughter attends LaGuardia High School for the performing arts in New York City.

LaGuardia boasts a pretty famous list of alumni, including but not limited to Jennifer Aniston, Awkwafina, and Timothee Chalamet, as well as Ving Rhames, Wesley Snipes, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, to name just a few.

This year's graduating class announced where they intend to attend college by wearing school swag. The video was set to the song "I'll Always Remember You” from Hannah Montana, and revealed that Suri will go to Carnegie Mellon via her sweatshirt. She is reportedly planning on majoring in fashion.

Carnegie Mellon is located in Pittsburgh, Penn., and boasts a student body of over 14,500, per its website.

While Katie has reportedly singlehandedly raised Suri, it has been widely claimed that Tom isn't in his daughter's life and hasn't been for many years.

Page Six reports that the Top Gun: Maverick star hasn't seen Suri in person since 2012.

While we don't know for sure what their relationship is, at the time of writing, neither of Suri's celebrity parents had commented on her college commitment.

Some of the last public comments Tom made about Suri were in 2006, when he ironically said, "I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep."

For her part, Katie said in a 2023 interview, "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her."

The fashionista also said, "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

Katie also dedicated her movie Rare Objects to Suri. The star daughter sang a song for the film, which wasn't her first time doing so, having also lent her talents to Alone Together, per People.

Here's wishing Suri much luck in college, and that she keeps fans somewhat updated about her journey, although it's completely understandable if she wants to maintain a low profile while at CMU.
