So, who died in the series finale of 'Station 19'?
For fans who may have worried that the creators of Station 19 would kill off multiple characters in its series sendoff, you can breathe a sigh of relief because many were spared.
Although there was impending danger for the Seattle-based firefighters — a wildfire threatened to overtake the city — only one cast member met her end on the last episode of the long-running drama.
Indeed, Kate Powell, played by Kiele Sanchez, doesn't make it, as she is horrifically sucked into a fire tornado.
Can this really happen? Well, yes.
The U.S. Forest Service calls this weather phenomenon a fire whirl as a “spinning vortex column of ascending hot air and gases rising from a fire and carrying aloft smoke, debris, and flame." To be fair, this is a rare event, but it's still terrifying!
Meanwhile, since Kate didn't make many friends in the firehouse, well, let's just say fans weren't exactly sad to see her go. Many fans took to social media to insinuate that she got what was coming to her.
A few characters almost died on the series finale of 'Station 19.'
The series finale definitely kept viewers on the edge of their seats, because at various points throughout the episode, beloved characters nearly die.
Theo (Carlos Miranda) is nearly crushed by a falling tree, but sustains injuries that are survivable, thankfully.
Maya (Danielle Savre) almost meets her fate thanks to a giant fire wall, but her fellow firefighters are able to rescue her.
Finally, Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) suffers burns but recovers.
Meanwhile, a flash-forward gives fans a glimpse of the what the future might look like for the main cast.
And while most of the characters may have survived to see another day, their off-screen personas are also bonded for life.
"Family forever, on and off-screen," a post featuring a photo of cast members was captioned as fans viewed the finale.
Fans piled into the post to mourn the end of an era, voicing their sadness that the show is really over after just seven seasons.
"How do I stop crying long enough to be a functioning human?" bemoaned one person.
But perhaps one fan said it best by commenting, "If #Station19 had to end, I’m 100 percent satisfied with this ending. It was perfection."
Amen to that!
