Mitchell and Sydney Have an Update on What Happened After the 'Farmer Wants a Wife' Finale

For most of Farmer Wantsa Wife Season 2, Mitchell and Sydney's connection is clear. But there is a time when her confidence in him wavers a bit, since Mitchell makes other connections too. And during the finale, Mitchell has to choose between Sydney and Kait. In some ways, though, his decision doesn't seem very tough for him. At least, not as difficult as it might be for the other farmers.

We now know who Mitchell picks on Farmer Wants a Wife, and it's not the most surprising choice in the world. However, it does lead to other questions, like if Mitchell and his chosen lady are still together after filming the show, or if things didn't work out once the cameras stopped rolling and things got real for them. Luckily, they open up about it during the reunion.

It's not until a few episodes before the finale that Mitchell and Kait start to really connect. She initially has a hard time showing more emotions with him, but when she does, it helps them get closer. In the end, however, Mitchell tells her he "struggles" with the connection they have. And although Kait has "so many qualities" that he's looking for in a wife, he has to end things with her.

That leaves Sydney, and is anyone really surprised that Mitchell picks Sydney? They got along right away and bonded over a love of hunting and the outdoors. She even has experience on a farm, and Mitchell's parents got along with her well when they first met.

Mitchell says that Sydney helped him open his heart to someone, and that he wants to be with her and her alone. "I want you to join this adventure of life with me and farming's just the beginning," Mitchell tells her.

Mitchell and Sydney's immediate connection and their shared love for everything outdoors definitely makes it seem possible that they made it. Yes, Sydney calls New Jersey home, and Mitchell is in Tennessee. But they knew that going into the process, and Mitchell still made the decision to pick her. And, during the reunion, they share where they stand now.

Both Sydney and Mitchell share that there's love between them now. And for Sydney, the felling of "calm" she gets whenever Mitchell is near is enough to tell her that the relationship is real. When host Jennifer Nettles asks if the farmer really did find a wife, Mitchell smiles and says, "Everything just felt right, and I knew when I said yes to her that I [was] praying it's a long-term yes."
