Why Was 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Canceled After Season 4?

Her name is Sabrina Spellman ... and unfortunately she's been canceled.

Sorry, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fans because Netflix has decided to ax the spooky YA series starring Kiernan Shipka as the titular comic book teen witch character. The show will end after Season 4, which is slated to drop on Netflix later this year.

So, why is CAOS canceled? Here's what we know!

News broke in July that the supernatural series will conclude with Season 4. “Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy," showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said (via The Hollywood Reporter).

He continued, "I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see part four.”   

While many fans were shocked that Netflix decided to cancel the popular television series, it fits with the streaming service's pattern of ending shows after just Season 2 or 3. 

So, does that mean fans will not get the Riverdale crossover they've been hoping for? Well, it's very likely we won't get to watch the main characters in both Archieverse shows come together for an episode.

However, fans can look forward to the upcoming release of Part 4 of CAOS.

In the final chapter of the Netflix series, more evil is brewing. So, can Sabrina and her friends save the world ... again?

Part 3 ended with the teen witch splitting herself into two, with one Sabrina resuming her life as a half-witch, half-mortal girl who is still enrolled in high school.

The other blonde witch is ruling hell alongside her father Lucifer. 

From the trailer, it appears the two will have to get back together and confront the danger that is coming. The next installment in the series will drop on Dec. 31 and fans can't wait!

"Looking forward to the bittersweet season 4 of #caos. I hope you’ve enjoyed the production bc we’ve enjoyed what you all put together," one fan tweeted. 

Another person wrote, "I'm getting ready to see two weddings in season 4 of CAOS. Sabrina in hell will obviously marry Caliban, and 'our' Sabrina will marry Nick." This individual posted, "@netflix guess im canceling my subscription after watching season 4 of #CAOS. You finally add an amazing show that makes me wanna use my account, which by the way ive only used it to watch this show for the past 2 yrs."
