Who Is Yusuf Gatewood in Season 2 of 'The Umbrella Academy'?

In 1989, 43 women who were not pregnant the day prior randomly gave birth on the same day. Seven children were adopted by a billionaire and each developed a "gift" or superpower. These children were raised to save the world and became known as The Umbrella Academy. 

In Season 1 of The Umbrella Academy series, which is based on the comic books by Gerard Way, six of the remaining children are reunited after the death of their father.

As they try to figure out how their father was killed, they also try to solve the mystery behind the upcoming apocalypse that No. 5 revealed to his brothers and sisters after time traveling from the future to present-day. When the Hargreeves (and viewers) find out that it is actually their sister Vanya (Ellen Page) who somewhat unintentionally is the person behind the destruction of the world, No. 5 grabs his family members and seemingly travels back in time. 

The Netflix series concluded with the adults now once-again teenagers, implying that No. 5 succeeded in traveling farther back in time to hopefully stop the apocalypse before it happens. So, what's next for The Umbrella Academy?

While there have been scarce details about the storyline for Season 2, we do know that there will be a few new characters thrown into the mix. 

One newcomer to the comic book series is Yusuf Gatewood. Keep reading to find out more about the actor and his character!

According to reports, the actor has been cast as Raymond, who has been described as a natural born leader that exudes confidence. Raymond, a devoted husband, is described as "warm, dedicated and possessing the innate ability to disarm you with a look (via Deadline)." 

Yusuf will join fellow Umbrella Academy newcomers Rita Arya and Marin Ireland. Rita has been cast as Lila, who is described as a sort of chameleon who is equally brilliant and insane, depending on the situation. She apparently will have a twisted sense of humor.

Marin will play Sissy, a Texas mom who is fearless and unfortunately got married for the wrong reasons. She will reportedly rediscover life and love in the upcoming season. 

While it's unclear if Yusuf will have supernatural powers in the Netflix series, the actor is most known for portraying voodoo witch Vincent Griffith on the CW series, The Originals. 

He has also had numerous television and film roles including, Jacob's Ladder, CSI, and Barbershop: The Next Cut.

Netflix has officially announced the Season 2 release date of the supernatural show. The main actors in the series showed off their dance moves in a new video, which paid homage to a Season 1 scene. Set to Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now," the cast revealed the show will premiere on July 31. 

Well, we certainly can't wait to find out if these superheros can save the world.
