June "Mama June" Shannon first appeared on television alongside her daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson on Toddlers & Tiaras in 2011.
It wasn't long before the Shannon family landed their very own reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The series premiered in 2012 on TLC and starred Mama June and her kids Honey Boo Boo, Anna (Chickadee), Jessica (Chubbs), and Lauryn (Pumpkin). The show ran for four seasons until it was canceled after Mama June was seen with a man who was a registered sex offender.
However, Mama June continued to make appearances on other reality TV series and talk shows such as Dr. Phil and The Doctors. Honey Boo Boo appeared on Dancing With the Stars: Juniors in 2018.
Mama June: From Not to Hot also premiered in 2017, and followed Mama June's 300-pound weight loss transformation. In 2019, June and her boyfriend Geno Doak were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. June's family staged an intervention in an attempt to help her but Lauryn (aka Pumpkin) took custody of Alana.
